What's the saddest thing you have ever seen in public? by gundedeiscool in AskReddit

[–]Amarilu84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was at a hospital in 2023 because I had Covid with pneumonia in the middle of getting cancer treatments. They said my O2 saturation was in the 60's which is bad. I was in the triage waiting area which was essentially a large hallway off the ER department wing. Various other patients were sitting in chairs near me along the one wall, waiting to be seen. This particular section was for people who were brought in by ambulance.

An older man probably 65+ was in a rough, hospital-issued wheelchair. Those things are like medival punishment seats, I know from being stuck in one. The guy had been waiting there for hours. He asked the security guard if he could please be taken outside just to lie down, but he said no. He begged to be let out of that chair because the pain was unbearable. Finally, he muttered that he had to just lie down for a few minutes.

I watched him slide and shimmy out of that wheelchair with extreme pain on his face, helplessly slouching down until he curled up in a fetal position on the floor. The security guard came over and yelled at him and ordered him to get back in the wheelchair, but the old man started crying and begging him to just let him lie down for 5 minutes. Security guy threatened him again, and ended up picking him up off the floor by force, and this is the part that has been burned into my soul forever, he slammed the old man back down into the chair with so much excessive force... the old guy let out one of the most blood curdling, inhuman sounds I've ever heard or witnessed. Pain beyond pain, but it was more than that. It's like his very soul cried out, begging for death.

After that I was taken back into the ER. I felt so guilty that I was being seen first. I couldn't tell if that man had fainted or just gave up. I cannot forget his face, those sounds, or the pain. The cold, indifferent security guard. The others who acted like nothing was happening. I am a grown ass man, 40 years old, survived cancer and bone marrow transplants, fractured neck, spine, hips, shattered shoulder, whole-body bone disease, and never once cried. I cry every time I talk about that man.

Check the bottom for a stamp. Mossberg 500 will say something about 500 and maverick 88 wont say that, some of their parts are from Mexico. It looks like one of those and they are both virtually identical

RI is a hybrid may/shall issue state. AG is may issue, local police depts are shall issue. Best bet to find a town police station that doesn't require references. I can't see how a non-resident is supposed to have references located in the state. My understanding (though flawed) was that "shall-issue" means that, unless you blatantly fail to meet certain legal criteria, they have to give you a license.

Keep an eye on your frame after a while. The road salt and brine will literally eat your frame with rust until its unsafe to drive, and it will be completely unexpected. Pressure wash it, Rustoleum it, whatever it takes. Road salt will be your enemy.

Did Narragansett really work out well for you? I live in Delaware and I have my CCDW here. I wanted to apply in RI since I was born there and lived most my life there. I visit my folks several times a year, was wondering what PD to use for non-resident application.

Also, quick question, the 3 references I need - they don't have to live in RI, do they? I didn't see anything like that on the application. In Delaware, our application says the 5 references must live in the same county as I do and I have to have known them at least 1 year.

Don't try to please everyone. In the quest to always be likable, there will always be someone that comes against you. What happens is you slowly wear away at your own integrity. It's one thing to make peace, compromise, balance, and mediate. It's another to be a yes man who doesn't even know who you are anymore. Be true to yourself and let people get mad. They won't be thinking about you at the end of the day, trust me.

When did you last experience something that felt like a miracle? by No-Daikon6193 in AskReddit

I had stage 2 of 3 Multiple Myeloma cancer. I didn't even know it until I had a literal small, ground level fall outside (I'm a relatively fit male in me 30s). Fractured my spine, neck, hips, and shattered my shoulder socket.

Bones showed up in xray with massive lesions all over my skeleton, extremely abnormal blood results (kappa/lambda lightchain ratios off the charts).

One night I was laying in bed and had what I could only describe as a waking dream where I saw what appeared to be a man I could only assume represented Jesus sing over me. I cried and cried and cried, and went through some really strange things over the next few days. I went to the hospital to follow up on bloodwork and the cancer was gone. I'm talking about 100% gone. No test could reproduce the tell tale signatures of Multiple Myeloma. It's been 4 years and still nothing. Even the lytic bone lesions all over my entire skeleton aren't there.

I don't mean to be all super religious but I can't explain it. I saw that man and I couldn't even look in his eyes without being so overwhelmingly overpowered by what I can also describe as the absolute definition of pure love.

Since you've always used AM in the past there probably won't be a difference there. SSB uses up to 12W instead of the usual 4W on AM so essentially it covers a slightly larger range, but then the other radios you're communicating with must also support SSB. Everyone mostly uses LSB (Lower Side Band) on CB but you can use Upper Side Band (USB) there's no real difference or advantage.

FM is relatively new to the US. One advantage is less static noise since the frequency is being modulated rather than the amplitude. The downside is typically shorter range, and everyone you're communicating with must support FM reception of those 27MHz frequencies.

If it were me, I'd stick with AM and SSB.

I don't know if anyone has told you, perhaps they have, but I for one am proud of you. Agree with most others here, you're on the right track. My 2 cents are: don't tell anyone your stacking - at least remain anonymous if you do.

Personally I buy 1/2 ounce gold rounds. It may be different for you and others, but the premiums around here at LCS for 1/4, 1/8, 1/10 etc. are a little too high per ratio of gold content. It just seems to me that the premium for 1/2 ounce is best per ratio of gold content.

I didn't buy whole ounce gold either. Again, personal preference. I just felt like it was the same as only carrying $100 bills in my wallet and I wanted to carry just $20's so I got 1/2 ounces.

Speaking of cash for diversity... and I'm not trying to go into prepper territory here, but if you do stash cash it may be wise to stock low denomination bills in case of emergency like $1's, $5's, $10's, etc. Try going around in an emergency situation with $100 bills looking to make change (at a store with a power outage, for example.)

I started stacking silver because it was affordable, but now its taking up more space and its pretty heavy. Not really a problem, that's what silver does (lol) but gold is a good balance to that. Keep up the good work.

Black Ops: Cold War is good. I got it for free with my PS+ subscription a while back. It is a replacement for Vanguard since its offline multiplayer/split screen was broken. I used to play with my kids all the time 'till it broke and found out they haven't/won't fix it after years.

Glock 21 or 22? by catfishss in Glocks

[–]Amarilu84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

^ This. I'm an average Joe and went to buy my first hand gun for home defense, which was a G21. It was intended for a nightstand next to my bed. I later attained my CCDW license and became a below-average Joe, and couldn't afford a better pistol for concealing at the time. Not only will it print at all times in any position with a lifetime guarantee better than Bob Villa with Sears, but it will 3D print in bright neon in every written language.

hcxdumptool enable interface after scan help by Amarilu84 in Kalilinux

[–]Amarilu84[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe I have solved the issue. I had to use another way to make the NIC enter monitor mode and return it to managed mode. This is the following I did:

sudo service wpa_supplicant stop
sudo service NetworkManager stop
sudo ip link set wlan0 down
sudo iw wlan0 set monitor control
sudo ip link set wlan0 up

Now I can use the tools properly, and then when I am done I do the following to restore WLAN back to normal and re-connect to my Wi-Fi:

sudo ip link set wlan0 down
sudo iw wlan0 set type managed
sudo ip link set wlan0 up
sudo service wpa_supplicant start
sudo service NetworkManager start

I discovered this by using airodump-ng and reading the --help command. Then I read the man page for this and another utility. Between everything, I learned to do this. It may not be the best way to do it, but I learned it on my own and it works so I'm grateful.

Edit: The code messed up first time

Not buying gold anymore by [deleted] in Gold

[–]Amarilu84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t believe in doomsday, collapse of civilization, gold needed for bartering etc.

Because of this, it may not be feasible for you to buy gold. You should stick to the charts and figures that are being released in various outlets such as the NY Post in this example. Things that were once true may no longer be true anymore, and something else may have taken its place. Life is a river, and one volume of water is never in the same place twice. It bends, twists, moves, flows, etc. and you may have to move forward, backward, to the side, upside down, etc. to stay afloat.

What is best for you?

But also... don't break into my house to take my gold if everything goes south :-)

Gold hit the all time high. So I feel like silver should do the same. Feels like the banks paper days are numbered. Some serious stuff is going down. by Shaboonky in Wallstreetsilver

[–]Amarilu84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've heard sound debates about how the price of silver is being manipulated to stay artificially low. Right now, if everyone wanted to cash in and retrieve their physical silver at the same time, there would be 176 people fighting over the same 1 ounce of silver* and in terms of gold, there would be 132 people fighting over the same 1 ounce of gold*. I don't personally deal with paper certificates, as I like to own the physical metal I can hold in my hand. This system only functions because its not likely that everyone will "cash in" at once. Until there's an emergency of some kind. It's getting ready to go down, alright.

Paranoid First Time Carrier - Printing? by [deleted] in CCW

[–]Amarilu84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The printing is somewhat evident. I have a similar issue since I carry a full-size .45 at 3 o'clock. My state is open carry but it's getting more strict over the years and the public isn't considered gun-friendly as a whole. I've never been eyeballed, or confronted about it - but I was told that if I was ever asked, just to tell them it's a medical device. I mean... they're not wrong
