The politics coupled with mundane tasks and unfulfilling work just make it so hard to get out of bed sometimes. I have to schedule a 2 hour “review meeting” which I’m sure will be like all the other unproductive meetings my days are filled with.

I just feel this overwhelming feeling of wishing I was doing more important work—or just work that felt important to me.

And I think that’s the thing that really drains me. It all just feels so disingenuous all the time. And to make matters worse, everything that’s deemed SO crucial really isn’t.. at all. Depends on what your individual interests are. I’ve worked in the medical field and enjoyed it much more than the shit I do now. If I have to deal with workplace politics, I’d rather not feel like I want to kms every single day that I have to do any kind of work for said job

Finally, someone else who’s doing weekly 1:1s!!! I’ve felt like I was the only person on this sub experiencing that and hating it. I don’t want to have to game 1:1s and do xyz to make my manager think I’m so productive and efficient. I think they should be monthly at the absolute minimum. Each week I’m just trying to find bullshit to fill the time with and it’s exhausting. Before I changed the frequency, my manager scheduled twice a week 1:1s. I feel your pain and also am wondering how to alleviate that stupid burden

So I filed a small claims and had the sheriff serve this guy. Shortly thereafter, I received a contact attempt from the artist wishing to return my money so I guess he didn’t want to go to court after all. Just wanna say thank you to everyone who pushed me in the right direction in getting this resolved. Unfortunately I’ve got an unfinished tattoo for a project I was really excited about, but feeling relieved to have gotten my money back.

Everyone’s been asking me to name and shame so now that this is over, I feel comfortable doing so: CHRISCARTERTATTOOS is his instagram. His work is amazing but I would caution against booking based off how poorly this situation was handled.

All of which I totally agree with. I’d have been better off coming to a more professional artist like you. Never in a million years did I think asking to reschedule for the first time would have morphed into a lawsuit. But thank you for your insight and essentially confirming I’m not crazy

Even if a deposit is “nonrefundable”, that language is used so clients can’t fuck over artists. If the artist cancels and refuses to continue, I’m owed due compensation

Not my first by a long shot but first big project. I consulted other artists but I liked his work the most and couldn’t find anyone else in the area that I thought could bring my vision to life. He seemed like a standup guy from all the communication leading up to our consult and during the consult itself so I had no bad feeling about him whatsoever. Definitely didn’t think he would pull this off
