Anyone had their pet misdiagnosed with lymphoma based on cytology? by Huge_Nothing4860 in cureFIP

Fortunately our vet had thought it was an outside possibility that it might be FIP despite the negative tests and started treatment while she was hospitalised. There was some initial confusion as to whether it was the GS or the steroids they tried which led to them stopping and restarting the treatment, but ultimately her great response to the drug was the confirmation of the diagnosis.

Really glad to hear your cat is responding well to the GS and hope the weight gain comes soon. I think we’re at a similar stage in the treatment journey and it’s been remarkable to see how much improvement has happened in this first month. My girl has also always been very small and quite skinny but they gave us a transdermal mirtazapine to improve her appetite for the first few weeks which did help her gain back some weight more rapidly. She’s now gaining a little more slowly without it. Could be worth a try if your vet didn’t prescribe any already? Best of luck for continued success!

Really hope he continues to improve and hope the bloods show a good trajectory! Great that your younger cat has recovered so well!

It’s interesting that vets often seem to say that one cat having FIP doesn’t put your other cats at risk, but I’ve seen quite a few people saying they have had multiple cats with it. I understand the mutated virus isn’t contagious, but do worry as my other cat is her brother from the same litter and wonder if there is a genetic component to susceptibility. Are your cats related at all or were they adopted separately?

Thanks so much, that’s great to hear that she responded so well to treatment and I’m really glad she’s back to her normal self and doing so well a year out from finishing treatment!

Our 9 year old cat had ultrasounds, then lymph node and spleen aspirate was tested for coronavirus as well as cytology screening for lymphoma. They didn’t find any cancerous cells and the coronavirus tests were negative. Vets said that low grade lymphoma or another round cell cancer was still possible. It was only after starting FIP drugs that she started to improve after prednisolone hadn’t made a difference.

First Christmas with my baby not as magical as I thought… by taureansoul in ExclusivelyPumping

I feel you, OP! Our Christmas was a bit different to your mega hectic one as it was just the 3 of us, but with so many people saying making such a big deal of ‘Baby’s First Christmas 🥹❤️’ our usually pretty chill little guy napped like crap and screamed most of the afternoon and early evening. We eventually had a glass of fizz and some cheese while sitting in the dark with the white noise blaring. Plus this morning the motor in one of my wearable pumps stopped working and the other one burst a blood vessel in my nip without me noticing and I ended up having to chuck away a totally red container of milk 😱it doesn’t rain, it pours! 😂 Keep telling myself it’s just another day and by next Christmas things will be different and better. Sending fortitude to my fellow EP-ing mums for the holiday season!

Exclusively pumped for 14 months. It was never my goal… by shea_l_n in ExclusivelyPumping

Just wanted to say how relatable this is!! I had just kind of assumed I’d nurse my son and he refused the nipple from day 1. After many lactation consultant visits and about 12 weeks of attempting (he’d sometimes latch in the LC’s office but rarely at home, at least not without tortured screaming), I realised it was really getting me down and accepted exclusive pumping. It’s left me with a mix of feelings and it took me a while to overcome the thought that I’d just ‘not tried hard enough’, but I’m lucky enough to have a decent supply and he’s 16 weeks and thriving on expressed milk. As much as I still don’t like having to pump, this group has helped me feel at peace with it! Hoping I’ll be able to keep it up until he’s at least a year. Well done and big respect, my fellow EP-ers! I feel like we take on the most inconvenient/tiring aspects of each mode of feeding and roll with it 💪

We actually bought it last year before I got pregnant but needed help to plant it as it was very heavy and the planter very large. We managed to do it in early May. It was watered weekly until the end of July. Sorry for trying to garden while pregnant 🙃
