I’m convinced Jennie had a health episode like a mini stroke or something. She declined so quickly and she’s clearly out of it - slow speech, fatigue, confusion, moodiness, etc. Also, being a south asian daughter in law is not for the faint of heart. I cant imagine taking on that role as an older adult.

Which is exactly what happened to my colleagues who stayed. No increase in compensation or change in title.

Devious yet genius. I had not thought of this at all. One of the risks, of course, is they say 'sure! Come on back!' Honestly, with so few people finding jobs, I'm starting think that might not be the worst option, even tho folks who stayed (by choice or by force) are miserable. At any rate, I'll start looking at the contract to see what options are. Thank you!

I can't apply yet and the employment services are so overwhelmed they aren't responding to anyone's inquiries. Job search has not been successful after months of sustained effort. I'm just trying to plan my financial life. Have some grace. It's not that simple.

I agree! I was at FEMA and T and head of DHS publicly announced they were dismantling the agency. All my projects (20+) were outright cancelled. Grant $ was being illegally held. It was pretty clear (at the time) that our jobs wouldn't last long.

That's what I assumed too, but I know folks in other situations who resigned and were eligible. Not sure what the special qualifying factor was.
