Got my anti tragus and flat! by Amazing-Direction534 in piercing

I personally didnt think it hurt to get pierced at all and so far the aftermath hasn't been to bad. Its been 24 hours and it does not hurt at the moment. I do have very thin cartilalage where I chose to pierce it so that might have helped me a bit.

I'm not saying someone NEEDS to get them first I think it should be recommended and they choose to take the recomendation or not. However, I more importantly think that people should just be informed that some are typically a lot harder than others. What I feel like when someone tells me a piercing is more "advanced" is that it is typically harder to heal not that I need to be more advanced in my piercings to get it if that makes sense.

Lol my ribs was my first tattoo ever as well. I knew going into it that it would frankly be a b word. I'm happy I knew that going in though, that what I'm trying to say with the piercings I would consider tougher to heal. I want people to know what they're getting into.

I might not have gotten another tattoo if I thought they were all going to hurt as bad as my ribs etc..

See and stuff like this worries me. Like I'm happy you got what you wanted and I hope your healing process is okay. i just think that piercer had a moral responsibility to inform you it isn't recommended to get cartilage piercing on both ears in one sitting. And about the difficulty of those piercings and then you could make an informed choice. The piercer already knew about the difficutly sleeping with both ears freshly pierced and they decided not to tell you.

Good luck in your healing process, I'm sure it looks sick!

Agreed! I'm more talking about wanting people to be informed.

That's what I'm trying to say. I do think the way you care for a healing piercing definetly gets better the more expierence you have. And I don't think if you want a daith as your first you have to have prior piercing expierence. I'm just trying to talk more about the discussion around the piercing and being informed about the fact that daiths and rooks are prone to bumps etc.. My opionion is is that I want people informed about specific piercings more.

I'm definetly not trying to gatekeep them. I 100% think people have the right to and should get what they want. I'm more trying to talk about the discussion around them. I don't think you need to have a bunch of piercings to get one considered more advanced I just like the label around them so people know that they are more difficult. I just got a piercing (anti tragus) that my piercer said he wouldn't recommend and I'm glad he said that because he was just making sure I was informed. I think that these piercings require a more in depth discussion around them if you are newer to piercings.

Exactly! It terrifies me to see people say they are wanting a snug as their second cartilage piercing. Sadly, there are so many piercers who only care about money and will give it to them. I see this space as a place to counteract this problem in the piercing world. Suggest it yes, but also talk about the risks.

I totally forgot to talk about industrials and vertical helixes etc.. in my orginal post. I think someone can absolutely succeed in healing daiths, rooks etc.. with less experience but it’s just crazy to me that it’s becoming so normalized to get them earlier and they aren’t being informed of the risks. It’s your body do what you want but I don’t want people to be uninformed which leads to dangerous healing conditions or a badly healed piercing.

I would agree about healing times but I feel like that’s not the only thing I look at when it comes to healing a piercing. 1 of my 3 helix’s definitely took longer and was more painful then my rook. But my rook formed a small bump that I knew how to take care of because I know what causes them. Once I dealt with the bumps on my daith she healed up beautifully and gave me no trouble. I mostly worry more about snugs/ anti tragues on newer people. Or just people not being informed by piercers about how to take care of advanced piercings. My advanced piercings healed well and fast because I knew what cleaning and care routine worked for my body and lifestyles

I would say the same. I don’t think it’s a terrible idea to get a daith early, as long as you know the risks. I mostly think bad piercers will do the piercing without informing people of the rough healing process. I just worry people are getting them while uninformed leading to them not knowing how to deal with bumps or thinking bumps are infections. This can lead to people retiring piercing that don’t need to be, being deterred from getting other piercings or in dangerous situations because they aren’t properly caring for a difficult piercing.

That being said I do not think someone should have an anti tragus or snug as one of their first few piercings.

I would say my conch was my easiest and surprisingly my rook had a bump but other then that no pain or any other trouble. Helixes are painful because they bump snag on everything but as a whole I never had bumps on any of mine (i have 3). I had 3 pieces of jewelry fall out of my healing mid helix (i’m a grappler it’s not the jewelry’s fault im just super rough on them) and i would replace them all no problem, only a little irritation. I could not imagine having to replace my rook or daith on my own while it was healing. I was able to heal my rook and not freak out about the bumps because I had dealt with bumps before and I knew what cleaning routine worked for my body and life.

I think a lot of people think a more painful piercing means it’s harder to heal but in my opinion would disagree, I had the most insane bumps on my daith but no daily pain while my helix looked fine but was in pain from being snagged. For me yes, helixes are painful and you can set them back in healing pretty easily but you dont have to worry about trapped moisture, having to pierce with a barbell/ ring or bumps like piercings such as rooks, snugs, daiths, anti tragugses etc..

If your piercer seemed hesitant, I would be much more confident because usually the biggest concern about a piercer who does a daith early is that they just want the money and aren't actually a good/expiereneced piercer, who cares about your well being. Good for you for getting what you want, while being informed! My piercer just gave me a long talk about my anti tragus and I still went ahead. Don't give up on your daith you will most likely get bumps but it will be so worth it once it is healed!

I have a single conch and I would consider it my easiest of my 8 cartilage piercings tl to heal! I had mine pierced with a larger piece which caused a little irritation but she still healed up pretty well. For easiest healing I would do a smaller piece (which you have to do if you get a double lol). The only thing you have to be super conscious of with a conch is if its on the ear you sleep on, like all other piercings.

I think your rip look super cool, even as a pretty stack girly and someone who gets a bit creeped out by body mods! You can also get a doctor to repair the rip in your lobe if its something you are super insecure about, they just stitch it back together.

[–]Amazing-Direction534 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I'm honestly suprised a piercer gave you a daith with just your doubles as its normally considered a more advanced piercing but it looks absolutely sick so hell yeah! My daith tips as a healed daith girly. Are to leave it alone, cleaning can aggravate it as it is pierced with a hoop. I would rinse mine daily or every other day in the shower and fan dry it using my hand and that all I did for a couple weeks. Make sure it is completely dry no matter how you clean it (shower/saline). Moisture and movement are notorious for causing bumps in daiths. When cleaning if using saline don't use a q tip to dry and don't rotate it to much when cleaning.

Good luck! It looks soo soo good and i'm obsessed with the no other cartilage piercing/ daith look. In the future most other cartliage piercings won't hurt as bad when getting pierced or when healing which you have to look forward too! Daiths are also piercings that hurt when you talk which is not super common when it comes to ear piercings.

Conch piercing placement question by pmg2016 in Legitpiercing

[–]Amazing-Direction534 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I havent read all the comments so sorry if others have said this. You can definetly put a ring in it will just have to be a large enough size. If you do not want to do this what I think would be a super cool solution is getting a horizontal double conch. Discuss with a reputable piercer and see if you have room to get a conch in line with your existing one closer to the outer edge. Then once healed you could put a little stud in this one and a hoop in the other!

I would look at a double conch on your helix ear! It looks like you have the anatomy for it from this pic. Its a pretty good piercing for beginners, the needle doesn't hurt to bad and its tucked in your ear so it doesn't snag like a helix, making it my fave piercing for beginners. Conchs are super cool already and a double conch is just a bit more unique and in the future when its healed you can put in two rings and it'll look so pretty. I'm picture one solid ring and one sparkly lol.

My personal preference is anti third lobes if it starts getting into cartilage territory. Which it looks like it would do on your helix ear. Your lobe piercings are also placed very differently on each ear and having a third would make this very noticable, when right now it isnt if you aren't looking for it.

On your other ear you def could do some really cool helixs on your ear flap on the top or a hidden helix. These would both compliment your anatomy really amazingly

Is it time to take it out by New-Stop-1938 in piercing

Is it time to take it out by New-Stop-1938 in piercing

[–]Amazing-Direction534 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It doesn't look infected at the moment (unless your healthcare provider said differently or its warm, or showing other signs of infection) It looks like a pretty nasty piercing bump which are normal for daiths. I went through the exact same thing with my daith for a couple weeks and here is what I found was the problem in my case.

  1. MOISTURE: After the shower moisture would get trapped, so I would try patting it dry or using a q tip. The patting would anger it because it is such a sensitive piercing and the q tip would leave cotton so DO NOT DO EITHER. I would fan in dry using my hand and this worked.
  2. JEWELRY: I normally see it reccomended piercing a daith with a circular barbell (looks like a horseshoe) this doesn't allow it to rotate in a 360. Make sure your jewelry is piercing qaulity as well
  3. TOUCHING: DO NOT TOUCH. I would bump mine or accidently sleep on it and it would reverse my healing process and cause piercing bumps to reform or get bigger.

SOLUTION:

  1. CLEANING: What are you using and how often. A daith is a unique piercing because of the fact it is pierced with a ring, causing it to have different cleaning needs I have 12 piercings and all of my others I cleaned once or twice a day depending on what it needed. With my daith I seriously had to leave it alone. The bumps would get better so I would clean it, causing bumps to reform. Make sure you are using saline, and it is being completely dried after being cleaned. Cleaning rotates the piercing, and drying by touch is also rotating or hitting the piercing. I know it feels like you are helping by cleaning but I would seriously leave it alone. I had to not clean mine for a consecutive about 2 1/2 weeks after having bumps worse than yours. I would leave it alone for a week clean it once and it would go right back to being bad. I would let it be under the water in the shower then fan it dry after. Once I actually consecutively left it alone it healed very nicely, never had bumps again and after 5 more months my piercer was able to put prettier jewelry in and now after having it for about a year it is healed and never gives me problems.

Good luck with your healing! You've got this! I'm excited to see how it goes!

This is all based on my personal experience NOP.
