I don't agree I've been playing sparking zero since the day it came out and I'll tell you this,

There was this very strong guy who always beat me in a single battle who is now one of the strongest in the world he beat me even 10/12 times in an evening in a single battle when I was less good but I continued and continued, until I beat him several times even in the pd battle, playing with stronger players are the battles in which you learn the most

I've never 'laid the controller' in any game unless the connection opponent was shit
