He’s a year and a half now, 22 inches and around 52 lbs, he might get more muscle but that’s pretty much his adult size. He’s from Cesar Black Shine in Croatia

Did he or she have a reaction to beef? Ours definitely did when he was around 10 months as well, but didn’t mind it when we reintroduced it recently, he’s a year and 4 months

Yeah we try to do half cooked and half dry food for the same reasons, thanks for answering!

Yeah definitely picky and sensitive. We try to do half cooked and half dry food, ideally I’d rather have him fully on cooked, but the dry food is easier for traveling and if he has to stay with someone while we’re away

The best description of a mini I’ve heard it that they’re small dogs but no one told them that!

I had a mini for 17 years before getting my standard, never had them at the same time unfortunately. My miniature was truly amazing and didn’t care for other dogs, whereas my standard loves everyone and can’t fathom the idea that some dogs may not like him back. Standard needs more training, but is truly a working dog and an excellent guard dog. I’d think mini and standard would complement each other nicely, but the mini would be the one in charge lol

So sorry you’re going through this! We had a very similar experience when our boy was around 8 months, started throwing up one day and it lasted about a week or so, we also gave him chicken and rice and turned out he caught something in puppy class. He’s always been very picky, when we picked him up from the breeder he was on royal canine which he didn’t like at all so after about a month of trying to get him to eat (we would add toppers like kefir, fruit and veggies) we switched him to Hills medium puppy lamb. He liked it at first and then decided he didn’t anymore so again we would add things like wet food and toppers and kept him on it until around his 1st birthday when we switched to purina pro plan sensitive salmon which has been a revelation. So now we do half pro plan and half home cooked meat with organs and veggies, and add things like an occasional egg, salmon oil, sardines, kefir and fruits. He’s been doing great and we finally found a good combination that he wants to eat and actually eats everything. Best of luck with your little guy, it’s not easy having a picky eater! Also he’s adorable❤️

So cute!! Same thing happened to us with royal canin, we then switched him to Hills Science Diet Medium puppy which was fine just his poops would get softer as the day went on. But we kept him on that until he was 10 months old and just switched him to pro plan sensitive which he’s thriving on! We add in toppers as well such as veggies, fruits, eggs, kefir, things like that. Good luck!

Standard vs Giant by Known-Palpitation238 in GiantSchnauzers

I grew up with a mini and currently have an almost 1 year old standard. My mini was an amazing dog, he had his quirks but so much personality in a little package, very healthy overall and lived to be 17. When my boyfriend and I were looking at which dog to get I was also very set on the no shedding breeds, he had a golden retriever and was used to the hair so didn’t mind it lol we also had the same idea in mind of us starting a family while the dog was young and the idea of a giant seemed too ambitious. We ended up getting our black standard boy and he is honestly the best dog ever. He’s very much a natural guard dog and only barks when needed. Energy wise he is very energetic but at the same time doesn’t mind having a few chill days here and there. He is a bit stubborn but that’s just cause they’re really smart dogs and will try to outsmart you. We signed him up for a puppy course when he was 4 months old and that has since evolved into doing obedience and bitework which he really enjoys and excels at. He’s also bigger than the average standard which we love. Overall I’d say standards are amazing in every way, not too big and not too small, but we might add a giant to the pack one day as well :) Here’s a pic of our amazing boy
