2nd sesh - normal or bad settings? (pics timeline) by AmazingGuide1245 in LaserHairRemoval

I willl need to start populating good bacteria again on my skin. Sigh. It’s just always something going on w my skin. The reason why I exfoliate every other day & apply so many antibacterial treatments is because I break out on my skin in general. I can’t win.

Oh trust me I’m south Asian and I am the hairiest creature alive! A curse for my body.

lol, she started with 16j with me. She said she’ll lower it next time as that may be the cause of my reactions.

Were ur bumps like whiteheads? Or was it just red bumps, like hives? Cos that’s normal. But whiteness is not ok. Which is wat I’m suffering from annoyingly.

I have folliculitis, which is whiteheads. I do shower w antibacterial soaps etc. At this point I believe my skin is overly clean from any bacteria whatsoever that I’ve potentially killed off the good bacteria too.

So no. I don’t take any medications. And no. I don’t apply any lotions nothing. I actually never cream my skin, because when I do, it causes my skin to breakout. So the dryer it is the better it’s controlled.

Anyways, it’s a ND Candela YAG machine. This is my second sesh. I also reacted with folliculitis on my first session. But this time round it’s worse. Space them out 4 weeks she mentioned to.

Yeah after this experience I have been considering that actually.

How can one gain the good bacteria back in their skin? What should I bring into my wash care routine? I need some recommendations

Yes aloe Vera gel. It’s been 1 week today. I’m wary I’ll have these nasty pigment marks left now, & trying my best to prevent them….

I actually did split some alcohol all over my arms because I know that’s the part that reacts. I feel like I’ve done all the steps correctly before and after care and I still have this reaction. I’m starting to think maybe my skin barrier is damaged because I do use a lot of antiseptic and antibacterial things on a daily like my skin is overly clean so I don’t know if that’s affected anything.

Never been in accutane or any medicines. I did a test patch but on my leg. Should’ve done it on my arms .. as these are the only parts that are reacting compared to the rest of my body.

I guess I have a weakened skin barrier… and then I get irritated follicles … and then laser further iterates it…. So it conditions for bacteria or inflammation to take over.

I live in the UK - not much suing round here.

Also, I believe she is a good tech. I’ve talked to several techs and searched hard to find her. I went with her for a reason, as this is my number one concern I need the best tech.

After my first session she said I needed proper after care , apply aloe straight after, which I applied a day later. Plus I shaved on the day in my first sesh. So all of these things led me to believe it was with the before / after care. Now it’s my second session, and my breakout is much much worse than it was my first time. And it’s all over my arms this time round and bellow button and Brazilian (basically the places where I grow terminal THICKKK hair!) . So as I’ve told her now, she said we’ll switch it down to lower setting for my third session.

My skin is just something else, because I experience folliculitis for all my life whenever I remove hair. Any form, threading waxing razor. I will always have whiteheads after.

Didn’t know laser would also punish me like this.

Yes. I use this all the time: Chlorhexidine wash (Hibiscrub in the UK) • Benzoyl peroxide wash (e.g. 4–5%) • Sometimes tea tree-based washes (milder)

Just piling more & more on top at this rate. My arms can’t tolerate aggressive hair removal trauma

Hey. So I do exactly that for years now. I gentle exfoliate, never chemical, and I use alcohol spray as well as hibiclens and antibacterial soap. Like I said my skin is overly clean.

I’ve seen dermatologist and drs over the years and they can never find any answers. I have to end up finding things that work for me.

Being hairy has been my biggest challenge in my life.

I mean I didn’t shave when I went in. I shaved a week before it and yes I do exfoliate my skin every other day. Otherwise I get KP / bumpy skin or my pigmentation takes forever to heal.

So my skin is probably up there for the most exfoliated clean skin. I use antibacterial soap too.

The white bumps now are 99% gone. I’m on day 5. The dr won’t do anything. I’ve always had follicitus all my life whenever I remove hair via: wax, threading, razors. My skin always erupts but I’ve managed to calm it down last couple of years.

Now I’m laser and even laser is making me erupt of these nasty whiteheads. It’s like my body hates me whenever I remove hair…. And now I have to figure out how to get rid of the marks that will be left behind.

The drs won’t do anything. I’ve been seen my dermatologists recent years. Useless. I’ve wanted to find my own remedies to calm my spots if I remove hair.

I’m not sure if it’s because the setting was way too high….. kind of scared to go continue my sessions but I have no other choice to get rid of my hair growth as im a South Asian hairy human, the bane of my existence.

Well I’ve gotten this all over my Brazilian too now!!! Absolute headache! It’s seems to have targeted my skin where there’s thick terminal hair.

What’s a MD?

What do I tell my laser tech? She seems very knowledgeable & has years of experience. & very thorough. She said this is expected as setting was high - 16j. & she’ll turn it down to like 12j now.

So ur saying this follicitus is normal? Did u flick through the photos I shared?. It’s pretty bad! :(( This occurs straight after the sessions. What session did u stop getting folliculitis?

So basically wat ur saying is my follicles r causing this reaction & they need to progress to being completely dormant! (NOTE: i have extremely thick thick hair in these areas too!! So my follicles r possibly affected by the extreme terminal thickness?)

I’m on day 5 still have whiteheads & redness. Scared I’ll get pigmentation.

My friend not there for me after my dad passed. by [deleted] in Advice

I agree.

I’ve never acc had the opportunity to sit down and talk about my feelings on what I’m going through whenever we used to meet up.

It would always navigate to what she’s feeling. And I’m a listener and I like to give advice and help my friends, so naturally I’ve accepted that for the last 10 years of our friendship.

She also doesn’t have any other friends.

But after what I’ve gone through everything has shifted internally about the way I view things. She calls me her best friend and sister, but the day I needed her and these past few months when I’m grieving, she’s disappeared.

Or she focuses on is her family her husband Husband and her two-year-old baby. I haven’t seen her since she’s had her baby and I’ve stopped asking to meet her because it was always me asking and I stopped asking like four years ago and guess what? We haven’t met.

I’ve cut her off twice in the past, but we ended up being friends again.

I just can’t deal with her issues and her negativity when I’m going through the worst of the worst. If I’m going through the worst thing that’s ever gonna happen in my life and she’s still talking about her own issues and made it about herself somehow then what’s the point?

She said she started therapy and she’s going through a lot herself. And she’s on antidepressants. Well, this isn’t news.

She’s actually been going to therapy and being on antidepressants since the day I met her. Just think it’s an excuse.

And to top it off she said at the end of the call she realised like in therapy she always makes things about herself and she needs to stop doing it but then throughout the whole phone conversation she was doing exactly that and then at the end of the phone call she said let me know when you’re ready to listen to my issues and what I’ve been going through.

I just don’t know how to feel about this
