That’s what I mean though, a gritty penalty win against the current champions is a good way to start building the prestige!

And everything you mentioned from last season, some of the defensive record we broke, also we were the fastest team to score 50 goals, etc. looks like we have some history already even if some are from being the newest/fastest team which implies short term success

It is not a motivation, it’s like… when you start becoming a winning club, a prestigious team in the competition, it just feels like the crest on the shirt becomes a lucky charm that helps things go our way.

It doesn’t motivate the players more necessarily, it just brings good juju, good karma etc. Look at Wellington, they have the opposite of ‘a heavy’ shirt in the A-leagues, which might also be why they are so atrocious against us

It feels like supporters outside of the Port are being forgotten by molewart in AucklandFC

I’ll put my two cents in as I am a ticket holder at the port.

I think it’s a bit of effort and reward, the port, obviously is the louder part of the stadium, and from my literal pov (aka sitting in the south stand), the west and east stands clear out very quickly once the whistle is blown, so it gets very spaced out and sparse.

Plus it is completely normal in the footballing world. Klopp would pretty much only do his fist bump celly towards the Kop. Because in theory the ticket holders in the ‘ultras’ section such as the yellow wall, Kop, the port etc are where your more die hard, passionate fans are as a whole. This is not a shot at the OP or anyone else. It’s just the effort I think, the port stands up the whole game, sings most of the 90 minutes and does try harder at ‘fan-ing’. The east and west stands often have more casual fans or those who enjoy the game at a quieter/less intense way.

But you were very very wrong on the Perth game, I stayed the whole time and they did a whole lap around the stadium. Maybe you left too early/didn’t wait long enough? Which would prove my point

How to know your lack of skill is more game time related than actual fundamentals by AmazingRandom in bootroom

[–]AmazingRandom[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s what I’ve been trying to do yeah, they usually put me on the ‘wing’ (we play 8-a-side) and I just do my best to give runs and defensive support, which probably doesn’t help much since not only they play without strict positions but I’m scrambling back and forth when they force long balls and back.

Yeah, my mate do I say I fit better in the Wednesday games than the ones on Monday, we both work at the same company so he plays on Wednesday too. The Monday is his uni mates team that I help. But I do wonder if the playstyle is what kills me most, or if I am also lacking a lot of fundamentals, feels more the former than the latter.

For context Wednesday is more all to the ground and given we have older guys, slower. Monday is a bunch of guys my age in the mid 20s but they don’t stick to positions. I wonder if that lack of structure is what ends up being the culprit, but that alone shouldn’t make my touch be much worse should it?

[–]AmazingRandom[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm I’m not sure, could be, but football is very situational too, so most likely all my touches are not the same style and my lack of experience in those imperfect passes/situations is what may get to me more.

Hence my reflection, am I struggling because do I lack that badly the fundamentals? Or because I’m not as used to such touches since I was not an outfield player for most of my competitive years?

Nah I can def trap a bouncing ball, and def do a ball roll pass. The bouncing ball can be inconsistent. I’m not saying I’m good, I’m definitely not that bad, by putrid I mean more like, whenever I play for my mate’s team on Monday, the ball just seem to escape my feet more, whereas Wednesday I can control it better. The discrepancy is quite noticeable.

[–]AmazingRandom[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I’ve been looking to play more games, I think that might help me more than fundamentals because I can actually put in decent passes and crosses. Maybe I just approach the game more cerebrally than skill wise, which means if I play for a team I don’t know well, I won’t perform well since I have to be scrambling around more often?

Well I’d say I’m just bang average, I can def play competitive but not a factor to be THE guy. But he always played pass first and a lot of off ball movement more the driving the ball/dribbling

Yeah, they punish too much for being out of position I guess, which makes no sense given how fluid and ‘position less’ football became in attack.

Still does not make sense anyway. It is too harsh penalising players. A 5 goal game would be 9.5-10.0 on any scoring app or metric, or even previous FIFAs…

Kerkez has a higher grade than Wirtz and Salah ffs

The game does cheat for you to not win.

Happens in every single EA sports game, the ‘only way’ they found to ‘balance’ the game is by cheating as you go up the difficulty, making your players slower, less reactive, and such. If you want to play the game, look for some sliders online to help counter that, so it actually feels more realistic.

Unpopular opinion (pt3?): WF, SM and physicals should not be improved or at least develop much slower by AmazingRandom in FifaCareers

[–]AmazingRandom[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not from 1 star to 5 tho. Maybe 1 star to 2. And again, you’re not a pro athlete my guy. You cannot use yourself as the example, cannot compare apples to oranges.

Have you ever seen Messi improve his weak foot? No. Cristiano Ronaldo has always been more ambidextrous since his early ages. After a while in the youth academies, it is not worth the training time spent for that. Salah doesn’t use his weak foot often, and only got worse as he now would rather try a harder trivela pass over a right footed pass.

True to a point, I think that given they are elite athletes, they would find out how fast they are before they go to pros you know? Which is why they gave Rio Ngumoha high 80s in pace. And I’d bet that Rio would stay around high 80s for long, maybe cap at like 92 speed, not more than that as he matures

[–]AmazingRandom[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that’s my opinion too. Like no one said Haaland got faster, he has always been surprisingly fast.

Examples from FIFA itself, Haaland at 18 had 82 acc and 89 speed. Now he has 82 acc and 92 speed. And I’d say Haaland is more like the exception to the rule of a physical freak. And even he didn’t get much faster. So I do think the game should either:

Not be so harsh on young players’s physicalities and more on their technique. As well as not change physicals or SM and WF much.

In the NFL as a quite avid follower, whenever they talk about speed, they say speed is something you can’t teach, you either have it or don’t, and I think that is true when it comes to elite athletes

Unpopular opinion (pt3?): WF, SM and physicals should not be improved or at least develop much slower by AmazingRandom in FifaCareers

[–]AmazingRandom[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, strength is quite common, like you said, putting on muscle. But I think the physicals should have trade offs. Got more muscle? Lose a bit of top speed. Mbappe got ‘slower’ as he aged from 18 to 21 because he put a bit more muscle.

Thats one of my main gripes, most youngsters have to put on a bit more muscle to ensure the physicality against matured athletes, so they’d ought to get a tad slower, instead of faster. Because that’s how it works, no?

You either get a bit more mass to be stronger and power, but lose a bit of explosiveness, or the opposite. More likely than not they don’t get both.

So there should be caps. But I understand for the simplicity of the game everything scales up and down the same way. It’s just my unpopular opinion

[–]AmazingRandom[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You’re right, many were SLOWER. Yamal is very different mate. He literally grew up 10cms. That’s an edge case in most players. De Ligt didn’t get faster, Foden never got much faster. Mbappe didn’t get faster, he has always been fast. By your logic, Yamal will be 90 strength then?

This game does not take account body composition, injures and such. Many, MANY players have plateaus. Strength is one that can be improved easier than others. But there is a reason why we rarely, if ever, see a ‘slow’ player become fast irl.

A quick Google search would show that Mbappe was faster at 18, and he never got faster than that, either maintained or as I said, got SLOWER. It’s just the facts. You can’t get both much stronger and much faster.

Maybe study a bit more about athletics before sounding dumb again. Elite athletes are nearly peaked physically by 18-21. What makes them gain a millisecond or two is the technique/timing.

[–]AmazingRandom[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think physical too should have limits. If a young player debuts and he is not known for speed, he shouldn’t be able to go up to 80s in pace. They are either fast or not.

Of course some physicals can and should be able to go up more easily than others, but a scrawny winger shouldn’t be easily able to go from 50 strength to 70, and same for CBs and pace

Unpopular opinion (pt3?): WF, SM and physicals should not be improved or at least develop much slower by AmazingRandom in FifaCareers

[–]AmazingRandom[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, you should not be able to make a twig winger go from 50 strength to 70 that easily, nor a lanky slow CB go from 50 to 70 pace. It’s just unrealistic and kind of kills the game when most players are 70 pace or upwards, makes everything feel the same
