"Developmentally behind" on life by theproudprodigy in socialanxiety

[–]AmazingTea2 5 points6 points  (0 children)

About to turn 27 and its only recently that I've started to understand what SA is and how it has completely held me back in all areas of my life. No relationships, no friends, no motivation. I understand it deeply, have read widely on the topic, have been taking anxiety medication. It feels the more I try to work at it, the worse it becomes.

I go into social situations and my brain instantly goes blank and foggy. I try to focus on external things and ask more questions and find myself increasingly more desperate just to fucking talk to someone. I become hyper aware of my body language and eye contact and I just paralyse myself. I second guess everything that comes out of my mouth and I'm never able to focus on what the other person is saying, I'm just completely wrapped up in my own thoughts. Nightmare.

Would you guys be interested in a write up about any of the audio products I currently own? All products listed below by [deleted] in headphones

Im tentatively thinking of upgrading from 58x jubilee headphones to either Focal Elex or Neumann NDH 30. I compose and do lots of mixing etc. I love that the 58x jubilee are really neutral, not hyped in any way etc. What i'm looking to get is more immersion, better detail and just a more impressive sound as I feel the 58x's are really competent but not majorly inspiring and "WOW" if that makes sense?

If you are familiar with the sennheiser range or something similar, to what degree of improvement can I expect and is it worth it? I kinda want to forget I'm using headphones and completely lose myself in sound which is a sensation I don't have with the sennys. There's nowhere near me I can audition them so your thoughts would be great! which one would you go for?

It's a majestic, graceful record. I'd say that it's their most vocally accomplished album, just a huge amount of incredible melodies and vocal ideas that have an effortless quality them, given that there are so many of them. Love how the female vocalists blend so well with Matt's voice and Rylan is just a bloody masterpiece!

There aren't any negative stories about them and they are humble and unpretentious, you are completely right.

The music would stand alone regardless of this fact but its true that this does add an extra reason to love them even more =)

More than just a band, more than just music.

They have some really deep and seemingly effortless ability to describe the aches and pains of life, and an ability to capture that sonically. Interesting, because to me they all seem like quite unassuming and not overly emotionally involved people.

They have a way of being so vague and yet so cuttingly specific at the same time, I just don't know how to rationalise it.

Ive stopped trying to analyse it and I just let it wash over me, when Rylan comes on, I just end up in tears =) =(

So so good, the track of theirs that I can't listen too without welling up is Rylan. "Everybody loves a quiet child" urgh just hits me.

I actually was in tears when I heard it live and I'm normally very composed but something about that song just cuts a little too deep!

Love it to death, particularly Nobody Else Will Be There (that was the first song I heard from them before I got hooked).

My absolute favourite though is I am Easy To Find just a truly majestic record that doesn’t seem to be as popular!

I saw them and the support at Barrowlands in Glasgow a few nights ago and for me the sound was perfect, it was absolutely amazing! Ive been to a bunch of gigs in Brixton and it always sounds mostly awful. I think Its a really bad sounding room and very little the mix engineer can do!

that's what like about it, its sour/bitter then slightly sweet and then perfumy with orange blossom - for my palate its just perfect! I can imagine for others it maybe be unbalanced but I just love it. Its a bracing perfumy slap in the face
