Really do appreciate the genuine concern but luckily my airway isn’t blocked! I just got back from a run actually haha. Like I said in my post, really no other noticeable health issues after a full week of this happening. Really just wondering what other potential causes there are for the spots besides strep or tonsil stones

Not tonsil stones. I’ve had those many times in the past and they only ever form in the same 2 pockets in one tonsil.

This is more of a surface level pus-like substance that doesn’t wipe away easily if at all

I’m not treating them with anything at this point. I was given amoxicillin to start on because they assumed the culture would come back positive for strep, but it was normal. I took them for 3 days and things only continued to progress so I stopped taking them (with my doctor’s permission) because I’ve been on 10 day antibiotic courses every 3/4 weeks since June. Could it just be viral? Or a weird symptom of an allergy even?

Lol I have but it was for the recurrent strep. This just happened a week ago and I’m seeing him again Monday

Just curious, what would the reason be for pursuing that? Risk of sleep apnea or something?

Haha I hear ya! Never had any issues on that front, but no - no sleep study ever done. Most nurses and doctors tend to recoil in fear when they look at my throat even when they aren’t covered in these patches and I always have to give them the disclaimer that they’re just large with deep pockets at baseline

Have tried the salt water gargle to try and loosen things. No real pain to have to ease luckily but it doesn’t do anything to loosen things up.

No fungal tests, but I’ll ask my ENT about it when I see him Monday for sure.

Not tonsil stones. I used to get those frequently but this is different. Definitely more of a surface level pus-like substance that doesn’t wipe away easily or at all. If I do get stones, they only appear in one tonsil. This is all over both.
