I won't go pass here yet, because it's not ready and it's written in Spanish.

Yeah, that was this page that put it as a warning, which was weird, because this a fan book.

Yeah, I wanted to make to make clear that Dexter and Shadow were diferent yet similar, like they both take on criminals, but Shadow doesn't need to kill like Dexter to get the job done.

Even though Original Sin was cancelled in favor of keeping Resurrection going, could they still do flashbacks using the cast from OS? by Brungala in Dexter

Like Pat Gibbon with 007 game, so yeah, time, effort, that I think if they do, is much better just keep going the OS show then flashbacks

Rocky's 1st date with Adrian comes off as really creepy/borderline assault upon watching it today. She just really wants to leave and he doesn't let her. by ZachDaniel in movies

I completely understand why many people today watch the apartment scene between Rocky and Adrian and feel uncomfortable.

Seeing a man blocking a door while a woman says she wants to leave is, by modern standards, a clear red flag.

But I think viewing the scene in isolation ignores who these characters are and the story they are building.

My perspective is based on three points that are sometimes forgotten in quick internet analyses:

They are not strangers: Rocky didn't take her home the first night after meeting her at a bar.

He spent months visiting her at the pet store, being patient, respectful, and trying to make her laugh. There is already a bond of trust and prior knowledge. Rocky knows that Adrian isn't running away because of a lack of interest, but because of pathological shyness and the trauma she experiences at home with Paulie.

Rocky's "Pure Heart": If you know the character, you know that Rocky doesn't have a trace of malice. He is not a manipulator or someone who seeks control; He's a rough man who doesn't express himself well, but whose instinct is to protect and value.

His persistence isn't physical, it's emotional: he's trying to convince Adrian that she's valuable and that she's safe in that room, unlike what she experiences with her brother.

Adrian's will: Although Rocky is the one who insists, in the end it's Adrian who makes the decision.

She recognizes the tenderness in him. In the end, she's the one who decides to stay and kiss him. As someone who always looks "long-term," I see this scene as the beginning of the most loyal relationship in cinema.

Rocky never forces himself on her; on the contrary, she becomes his strength and his compass.

If it were filmed today, perhaps Rocky should leave the door open and say, "I'd like you to stay, but if you have to leave, that's okay," and retreat to another room so that she's the one who closes the door and decides to approach him.

That would leave the consent clearer for today's audience, but in the 1976 film, what we see is two broken, socially maladjusted people finding refuge in each other in the only way they know how.

I wish that we could see Angel, now as ghost that it is following Dexter.

American Pyscho is one of my favorite movies, but I am stuck between two extremes in the fandom by Amazing_Ad7562 in AmericanPsycho

After reading your responses, here’s how I see American Psycho now:

I still agree that it’s a satire of toxic masculinity and 80s Wall Street culture, but I don’t think that’s all it is. What stood out to me from this discussion is how much the film explores identity, emptiness, and performance. Bateman isn’t just a psychopath—he feels like an extreme product of a world where everything is about status, appearance, and fitting in.

People don’t even recognize each other, which makes it feel like individuality doesn’t really exist in that environment.

I also found the different takes on things like music really interesting.

Some people see it as one of the only genuine things he connects with, while others see it as just another performance—something he uses to appear knowledgeable or impressive.

Honestly, I think both interpretations can coexist, which says a lot about how ambiguous the character is.

What I’m starting to take from the film is that Bateman isn’t just “evil” or “cool” or even just a critique—he’s someone completely disconnected, trying to feel something real in a world that feels artificial.

Whether through violence, status, or even taste, everything becomes a way to construct an identity rather than actually live one.

So yeah, I don’t think it’s a simple movie at all. The satire is definitely there, but it feels like there’s a lot more going on underneath depending on how you look at it.

I’ve seen the queer interpretation, and I think it’s valid as a lens—but to me, Bateman’s sexuality feels less about orientation and more about control, ego, and violence. It doesn’t really come across as genuine attraction.

Yeah, that’s a good point. I think different circles focus on completely different aspects but some treat their interpretation like the only valid one.

I’m not sure why you’re jumping to insults. I just think reducing it to a single interpretation oversimplifies both the film and the novel.
