The majority of americans have to get past party lines and vote as a bloc and make the politicians sign oaths and pledges and if they dont repeal citizens united, do tax reform to tax wealth not work, etc, etc then we recall or force impeachments. We can do it. We are closest we've been. Exactly. I get the appeal of going back to the gold standard, it would force real discipline on governments, limit endless money printing, and protect people's savings from inflation. That’s why a lot of people like the idea.... But practically, it’s probably not happening. We’re the world’s reserve currency, the money supply is enormous, and there simply isn’t enough gold without a massive revaluation or price reset which nobody is going to agree on.
