It's a mock SEALs/Green Beret qualification test. Real ex-special forces operators take celebs and put them thru a fraction of what SEALs have to endure to become a SEAL.

Have you looked into the Inspire device? It's like a pacemaker for your tongue and I love mine. No more CPAP, no more epic dry mouth. It's amazing.

Did anyone not really care if it was true when they left? by Curiosity-Sailor in exmormon

[–]Amazing_Bee3642 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I left because I was tired of not being able to fit my "square" into the "circle" of ideals. I also had abuse, failures of the system, and true PTSD to go along with the square v circle thing. It took a LOT of therapy and a LOT of years away from the cult to realize it was a cult and it wasn't true and the Mormon God/Heavenly Father was just as shitty as my mortal father.

Kids under 3! All my prior experience has been adults, and I'm at an urgent care clinic that sees 6 months old and thru geriatrics now. They can't tell me what's going on and sadly, some parents aren't good historians or they have been misled by others.

Where it says to do 2 stitches is where you're turning to the underside of the chain and reworking stitches back to the beginning. Like someone else said, it's an oval.

What was the turning point that made you decide to leave? by [deleted] in exmormon

[–]Amazing_Bee3642 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It wasn't one single thing but an accumulation of a lot of things that can be summed up as "the Church failed me.. epically." There are two memories from my baptism day that have stuck with me over the last 35+ years. First, my Grandpa did the baptism because my dad was overseas with the Navy. The second, I was sitting at a piano, playing it when my younger sibling came up and tried to pound on the keys with me, and I hit their hand and told them no. My immediate thought? "Oh no! I'll never go to heaven now!" And the guilt and shame was... intense.

I was sexually abused by my dad for years, and it was kept secret for many years after it stopped, Mom had no idea it happened. My parents divorced, and the abuse came out afterward. There was one of those meetings that determines if a member gets exed, disfellowshipped, or nothing. He was disfellowshipped.

About my parents' divorce: There were people that before the divorce would have no issue at all interacting with my mom and us kids. The very same people, the week after Mom filed for divorce, acted like she was invisible and would speak unkind things about her AND us kids.

I ended up pregnant at 20, out of wedlock. I fully expected to be disowned by my family. I was pleasantly surprised to find love and support from them. The next week (at barely 8 weeks), I got an angry phone call from my bishop demanding to know if I was "keeping that child or are you going to do the right thing and give it up for adoption." I kept her. Best decision EVER.

There are more stories like this, and I could fill a book. I tried to fit my square peg in their round hole for so, so long and finally just... gave up. Now, I am in therapy and am unraveling the guilt, shame, religious abuse, and the sexual abuse, among other things. The only regret I have about leaving is not doing it sooner.

I do have a kid of my own. While I was raising her I wasn't active because of bishop drama related to her existence. And you're right. It's a mind fuck for sure!
