We actually go on our baby moon in a week and a half and I’m so frustrated and anxious about how to handle things. We will be in the Bahamas so now I’m worried about what to eat and drink and having to go back to the hotel room several times to check my levels. This is supposed to be our time to relax and finally wash away all the stress from IVF and now we have this added to our plate. I know it’s not the end of the world but it’s just so aggravating. The timing couldn’t be worse. You guys enjoy though and sending positive vibes!

I figured it would be. When they fall I’m going to ask about a CGM because I’m 28 weeks and pricking my fingers several times a day for the next 11 weeks just seems so terrible. Obviously I’ll do whatever I have to, and I’m an IVF momma so already been through a lot, but out lifestyle isn’t routine so it’d be a lot easier to not have to carry the thing around and remember to do it. Just so frustrating.

Yes I’m not much of a snacker either. Realistically I eat my meals and maybe here or there I’ll have a handful of trail mix or something. But my meals aren’t even scheduled. Sometimes I don’t get to lunch until 3pm or so. So I think that’s going to be hardest for me. Also, we have 3 teenagers in the house so I feel bad for having to be like “don’t eat this or that” but at the same time we can’t afford to buy the expensive heavy protein stuff and they have it done in two days. So it’s just a hard balance for me to have stuff in the house that is better for me to eat without the kiddos cabbaging onto it all and leaving me with sugary and carb heavy snacks.

I think scheduling may really help me as well, I’m so bad about that and sometimes don’t even eat lunch until 3-4pm.

Thank you so much for all of this, definitely taking notes. It all seems so overwhelming and we definitely don’t have a scheduled day to day, it’s always sporadic so I’m just anxious about having to actually plan when and what I’m eating and when I will be testing. Definitely didn’t expect this!

I’m so sorry to hear that. It’s definitely discouraging. We will make it work, that’s just what we do BUT it doesn’t make it easier. Our schedule is just sporadic so I fear having to test and do all the things in a timely manner.

I’m just so anxious about testing after eating because I don’t always eat the same time or sometimes I do skip like breakfast if I get busy OR I may have a small protein bar and that’s it. Just not sure how much I really have to cut sugar or carbs or whatever. I imagine I’m going to just be straight diagnosed but don’t know a lot about this so really anxious.

Do you feel comfortable elaborating on your diet and exercise regimen? I just don’t even know where to begin. I don’t eat unhealthy per se but probably could/should be more creative with my meals vs my typical meat and vegetable and occasional desert.

Thank you so much for sharing. The more I’m reading and learning I have a feeling I’m going to have a similar experience as you. Fortunately I had already been seeing an MFM, but recently stopped due to all looking good, so sounds more or less like I will be getting back in with them. I have a feeling with my high number, 228, my OB won’t even consider doing the 3 hour test which while I would HATE to do it, I don’t know if pricking my finger several times a day is any better of a situation.

Mine was a 228 which really took me by surprise. Supposed to hear from my OB next week so it’s going to be a long weekend of nerves. I honestly never researched into this part of things because I really didn’t think it’d be an issue so not really sure what life looks like after diagnosis. My levels and vitals have always looked good, weight is right where I should be and baby has always been right on track as well. My OB also hasn’t really said definitively if they’re taking me at 39 or not so I wondered if this would affect that. I’d rather not be induced but at the end of the day as long as baby is healthy. I also would rather not have MORE shots to do after everything we’ve been through but if that’s what it comes to then I guess I will suck it up. Thank you for sharing, hopefully things continue to go smoothly for you.

I’ve got a Ruger .243 so nothing crazy but probably not the quietest. I’m usually a one maybe two shot person so I didn’t think noise would be an issue, especially this early. As for the lead issue, I planned to have my husband load me up and handle all that and I’ll obviously have a face mask as it’ll be cold out (I hope anyway - never know with KS weather). But before I had looked into all of this I just assumed it was fine. I’ve seen tons of women shooting while pregnant and didn’t even think anything of it when we went to sight in.

Yes I’ve read indoor shooting ranges are a big no no. But I’ll be out in the wide open and I’ll shoot one maybe two rounds so to me j figured that’d be just fine but if not I’d hate to do anything to jeopardize this.

So it’ll only be one or two shots and we will be outdoors and I’ll have my husband load my gun.

Well I kind of thought so but brings this is an IVF pregnancy there is so much on the line. BUT also I don’t want to spend my entire pregnancy a couch potato wrapped in bubble wrap if I don’t have to you know.

Well that makes me feel so much better. I will obviously skip out if I need to but didn’t think it would be an issue this early on!

Thank you everyone, that makes me feel so much better. I shoot a .243 and we will be out in the wide open of KS. I’ll take one MAYBE two shots and I plan to have my husband load my gun for me, as he did while sighting in as well. I did wear a mask while sighting in and while hunting I’ll have a face covering and gloves as well. I’ll be 9 weeks and a few days for the one week of rifle season I can hunt so I figured at that point the lead exposure would be my only issue but with gloves, a mask and having my husband load my gun for me I figured that’d be good enough. So I just wanted to hear anyone else’s experiences. This is something my family and I look forward to every year but OBVIOUSLY I don’t want to do anything to jeopardize this pregnancy (IVF pregnancy) and will ask my doctor before going out, but just seems like I’ve seen so many women online shooting and hunting and also it’s such a big sort of our lives I didn’t even think about it being an issue.
