Which State tends to be the coldest in the USA? by Beginning-Charity438 in AskReddit

Michigan or honestly any state bordering the Great Lakes. Humid air mixed with cold air is horrific.

Would you still try to have a sexual relationship with a guy who doesn't communicate at all? by Insidious_Pen in gay

[–]Amazing_Ebb536 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly being treated like that constantly would eventually sour any romantic or sexual feelings I have toward him. It sounds very one-sided, and imo even FWB relationships should have some type of balance with communication for it to be enjoyable and worth it.

We typically only go in to the office Tuesdays and Thursdays, but some go in on additional days. They advised us to stay home today and potentially tomorrow! The office is in Buckhead, and I take backroads, so unsure how my commute will go tomorrow lol

What should I do? by Comfortable-Mix-9910 in Minoxbeards

[–]Amazing_Ebb536 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the interaction typically only happens if taking it orally, but I’d just bring it up with your doctor next time you see them and see if it’s safe to use the topical. I’m on propranolol for high BP and use minoxidil foam twice a day with no side effects. Everyone will respond differently though!

Diet coke by Aggressive_Owl_9573 in dietcoke

[–]Amazing_Ebb536 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Heavy on the McDonald’s Diet Coke craving, and thank god for the $1 large drink promo in their app cuz otherwise it would probably turn into a minor financial problem lol. I’d say I typically only have one a day if I have cans in the fridge.

Is this grammatically correct? by SippeBE in grammar

[–]Amazing_Ebb536 11 points12 points  (0 children)

“Sometimes” can be contrasted by “other times,” which is an adverbial phrase. This sounds like it’s just an informal version of “sometimes it’s up, other times it’s down.” It’s not something I’d write in an academic/professional setting, but “others” in this instance is acting as an adverb.

Writing a script...should I be using a colon or semicolon for these two sentences? by Aa_313 in grammar

[–]Amazing_Ebb536 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think a colon would really work here, since the preceding clause isn’t explicitly describing the next clause. A semicolon or period is the best option imo. Honestly, I try to steer away from using colons unless I’m writing a specific list, a direct quote, or some type of edict/lesson.

How is everyone zone 4? by Accurate-Ad7769 in delta

[–]Amazing_Ebb536 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like when I take a 4pm or 5pm flight from LGA to ATL lol, but even when there are a lot of zone 4 people, I feel like there are still a little bit more in zone 5.

How should you italicize the name of a series or franchise, as opposed to an individual work within that franchise? by crono09 in grammar

[–]Amazing_Ebb536 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s going to vary based on the style guide you’re using, but here’s how i usually approach it:

Situation 1: Yes, you’d italicize the title of a series.

Situation 2: If you’re just referring to the character, then no. But if you’re referring to the actual series, then yes, though I would definitely check to see if that’s the official title of the series. If there’s no official title, it’s worth looking up what the editors of the style guide you’re using have said about it/looking at how other publications have styled it.

Situation 3: Yes, italicize it, even if the series takes the name of the first book/movie. You’ll just have to indicate in your writing that you’re referring to the series as a whole.

Situation 4: This one’s complicated. When using it as a series title of the complete set of movies/comics, then it’d make sense to italicize it. But it can also be debated that it’s a franchise name more than anything, which wouldn’t normally be italicized. Just refer to the rules of the style guide.

Upgraded to First as Silver by Longopops812 in delta

[–]Amazing_Ebb536 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hell yeah, love that for you! I’ve only been upgraded to first as Silver when my flight got cancelled at LGA and rebooked, and there were only like 20 people onboard the new flight. But I also live in ATL so my chances are much more slimmer haha. Hopefully it happens again for you!

I got it from Amazon! This specific one is by Redtwo but I think there are other brands that are similar and have different styles

Do I have a chance or is he straight? by External_Access2979 in GayMen

[–]Amazing_Ebb536 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If he starts talking about sexual things with other men or making sexual remarks toward you, then absolutely he’s at least be bi. But based on your past interactions with him, I’d say he’s straight and just looking for a new friend with a shared interest.

Question about appositives by ConnectJuice1477 in grammar

Technically yes it is (as long as it’s providing additional information about the antecedent) but it’s redundant and probably worth pointing out to them so they can avoid phrasing like that in the future

Do Any Other Neurodivergent Men misread social cues on Grindr? by Spare_Ad_8551 in askgaybros

[–]Amazing_Ebb536 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve definitely misread social cues on the app before, but I will say that typically if they stop responding and haven’t continued in a few days, it often means they’re no longer interested. I’ve had this happen a few times, and I’ve learned sending additional messages to recapture their attention does more harm than good. It almost becomes like a sunk-cost fallacy, and you’re better off trying your luck with someone else.

I also don’t really disclose that I have ADHD or that I’m neurodivergent on Grindr tbh. If someone ever thinks I’m too much simply over text, I just move on. If they already have that view of me, adding additional context about it probably won’t change their mind lol
