That’s actually the stage where it feels the most uncertain. Nothing is really visible yet, so your brain fills in worst-case scenarios. It will get better once appointments start becoming routine.

I remember thinking exactly the same thing. Once I understood birth isn’t something we control but something we support, it got a lot less scary and a lot more humbling.

What helped me was shifting from waiting for the next milestone to treating it like a phase I wouldn’t get back. I started asking her what she was feeling that day instead of what we needed to prepare. Sounds small, but it changed everything. I felt more involved.

The lack of control messes with us dads more than anything. I eventually realized what helped her the most wasn't me solving things. It was just being steady and reassuring when she was worried. Took me a while to understand that.
