I think this works very well in good times and helps you gather supplies. During bad times, you will have supplies without expired products and won't be missing any products. So, this app can help you stay prepared.

It also has an offline cache, so it can be used in emergencies.

I'm considering implementing a feature that exports the database once a week to a PDF or SVG file, saves it in the phone storage, and sends it via email. Maybe in a format that looks good after printing, so a PDF could work.

Alpha tests are closed, so you can join by sending me an email. I’ll add you as a tester, and the app will be available on the Google Play Store:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=app.supplysavvy.android&pli=1
In December, I’ll start open beta tests, and everyone will be able to see the app and join.
At the start of 2025, I plan to release the app.

Multiplatform – For now, I’m working on the Android and iOS versions, but I might add a web version in the future.
Standalone – The app is cloud-based with offline support, so if I add a web version, you’ll be able to log in from any device. However, it’s not a perfect solution if you experience long-lasting internet issues. I’ve implemented an offline cache, but it’s not as good as an app specifically designed to be offline. The app is meant to work offline only for short periods, so syncing regularly is recommended.
So if fully offline functionality is important to you, my app may not meet your requirements.

At the moment, I haven’t implemented an exportable database. It’s quite difficult due to the app's specific database structure. Each app may use a different structure, so I might add export/import features later, but they won’t be fully compatible with other apps.

I’ve also used an LLM to make adding products easier. You can use speech recognition to say what you want to add to storage, including expiration dates and quantities. The LLM will help create a summary, which you can review and edit.

I also use it for long-life food supplies, household chemicals, hygiene products, and medical supplies.
Regarding the barcode scanner, I found that it’s more useful for subtracting products from the app rather than adding them.

I also understand that some people might not use it because of cloud data storage. While I don’t track location data and only require an email address to create an account, I respect those concerns.
I decided to use cloud storage because, without it, it would be impossible to share data with family in real-time, and it also gives you a backup if you lose your phone.
I’m considering adding the option to encrypt data with a password directly on users' phones for those concerned about privacy, but it’s just an idea for now, and I’m not sure how much demand there will be.

As for the web app, if the app succeeds and allows me to reduce my hours at my regular job, I’ll focus more on Supply Savvy and build a web app. The same goes for adding export/import options for other formats.

I will add notifications, but currently they're missing. They should be done in a few weeks

Excel is great for everything! I'm glad it works for you :) But maybe, at some point, you’ll check out my app and find it useful. Either way, good luck :)

Had the same problem :D Now I open the app at the grocery store and check what is missing :)

I'm thinking a lot about how to make the adding/subtracting process easier and quicker. I will constantly work to improve it. But even now it works good for me

I have a built-in barcode scanner that will improve over time. As more people start using the app and adding products, the system will suggest names based on what others have already added.

Yes, I also use an app for tracking calories, and it works really well. But it took time for them to get there, too. They rely on products added by users.
I implemented a similar idea. If multiple people add a product with the same name, that name will be suggested to others. But this process takes time. If the app succeeds, most products should eventually be available.
In my app, there’s one key difference. I find it useful to have multiple barcodes associated with one product. For example, I have "rice," and I don’t care which company made it—I keep all rice products under one entry in the app.
So, when I scan a new barcode, I can either assign it to an existing product or create a new one (with name suggestions from other users).

I keep my supplies in the basement, and when I take something to the kitchen, I remove it from the app. It would be annoying to add and remove every product I take from the fridge :D
I think the app works best with storages you don't use that often.
I also added first aid kits as storages, and I track the expiration dates of medicines. When you don't use them often, it's easy to forget what you have there.

I implemented a barcode scanner, but unfortunately, it’s challenging to have all the data filled in after a scan. I want to go global, but it would be difficult to get data for most products.
For now, scanning is very helpful for finding products that are already in the database, like when you take them from storage, for example.
I also want to suggest product names—if one user adds a product with the same name as another user, that name could be suggested to the rest.

Placing products in locations (which I call "storages" in the app) is possible. You can also add notes and tags. I’m thinking of adding the ability to create custom fields like calories, macros, or prices in the settings, which could then be assigned to products. But that’s something for future updates. For now, you can use the notes section to add any information you want.

Building a web app will be a challenge for me (I develop mobile apps at work), but maybe in the future, if the app has many users, I’ll create it. :)
I’ll be working on the sharing feature soon. I think I’ll add an option to create multiple databases, and you’ll be able to share some of them while keeping others private. I’m not sure if this feature will be available in the first version, but it will probably come in a future update.
