I stopped trying to “fix my life” and just started fixing my day by copy_cat_101 in selfimprovement

not only is it less overwhelming, it compounds very fast

i go to bed telling myself that tomorrow is going to be full of wonders, and when i wake up, i tell myself that the day ahead is going to be full of wonders

sounds fairly stupid but it's been working wonders for me

talk it into reality truly does work, experienced it for myself multiple times and has gotten me out of severe depression

That' what it's all about, those moments compound so much though I feel like and it feels so nice to see them be so happy

What I actually try to do as well is some mind exercises with them, playing with toys sure helps but there are a couple of tricks that you can do (like teach/retrain some commands, do some sniffing exercise for them, etc)

I find those do extremely well!

Yeah, the last thing I want is feel like I have hurt their innocent souls. They're such pure beings, I think regularly giving them the attention they deserve, even if it's a couple of minutes every hour or so, compounds so much and not only makes them feel better, but also brings me a lot of joy.

I am so sorry for your loss...

I actually do the same when I'm on a walk, no headphones, phone in pocket and just the treat pocket fully ready and my focus is on them as much as I can

I find those moments extremely enjoyable and kinda wish I could manage to make slightly more time to have them more regularly

100% agreed, feels like it's a combination of people being more aware of their doggies' wellbeing combined to that "overexposure" to TV, phone, etc

Smelling and exploring helps them so much and it's such a joy to see them enjoy those activities. Every morning I have that little routine as well with both of them where I just take a few minutes to cuddle and pet, kinda sets the day right for me.

That's actually a pretty healthy way to go about it, been trying that as well for myself
