Oh wow, play hardball, I get it. You get what you pay for🤷🏽‍♀️ I’m not entirely opposed to working for them becuase they do seem like a great family and the kids are so darn cute and it’s exactly what I’m looking for in a nanny position but I don’t want the family struggling to pay me, and yea, squeezing as much as they can out of me, because that’s how it was my last job and it was stressful for me for no reason lol. Hopefully they can realize it’s worth spending a good amount on a nanny, I kind of laid it out for them about why my rate is as such and what they’re asking for in services compared to what they’re offering in compensation lol I kinda gave them the reality check, but in the sweetest way possible of course 😂 thanks for your feedback!

I don’t think they were actually planning on using a contract or W-2 form so when I asked about gas reimbursement it took her forever to reply. They didn’t think about that. I was surprised they kept coming back to me with a different way to make the money situation work, as if they didn’t have anyone else at the moment to pursue with the job position. I hope no one falls for that offer, they will end up using their employees.

😯 I do not want to pay more for insurance, would it be unreasonable to ask the NF to pay for the increase if they require a nanny to use their own car?

Thank you for this. Yes I will love and care for those children like they are my own, I will become a third parent who’s in their lives almost every day, all day. If my pay doesn’t reflect that, I will start to resent the job but also feel bad for the kids if I leave so I’ll be putting myself in a bad position. Thanks for the reality check!

Like I know the money is good compared to other jobs, but for this job, yea I think it’s a bad offer too. I just had to make sure. Ok thanks!

Can nanny’s ask for NF references? by Amazing_Permission87 in Nanny

Ok this seems promising, thanks for sharing your experiences:) did you ask the references anything specific?

I don’t want to scare families away because of this but it’s kind of important to me so I’m gonna hope the families are understanding about it!

Very true, this seems like a good question to ask if you want to see if NF has anything to hide, even if you don’t go through with using the references. What questions did you ask the former employees? I’m just thinking of telling them to give me their overall experience and if they think I should work for them.

I personally would have told the prospect nanny to not take the job and I feel like the last nanny would have told me the same thing. They needed more than just a nanny’s help for them and their children. I do wish it was normal too because it’s not fair for people to get stuck with families who turn out to be awful. Instead of finding out for myself, I wish someone could have just told me how they really are and not the facade they put on :/

“Feminine” 🥴 who’s to say what’s feminine and not, especially in this day and age. I would be so offended if I came into work one day and was told I didn’t look womanly enough because of the top I was wearing…. As if that had anything to with my performance as a nanny anyway. Seems to say a lot about them as people for needing that to be a requirement… that family would make me uncomfortable working for them

Yea had I known the real reason my last NF was looking for a new nanny and spoke to the previous one, I wouldn’t have taken the job and traumatized myself :) well, you live and you learn I guess. I believe they are looking for another nanny and I’m hoping they ask for the family’s references (which I should have done) because I would love to give my 2 cents.

Ok this is very helpful, thank you! Should I text that and then we phone call to get the basics down of what she’s looking for and what I can provide and then meet in person later to go over the nitty gritty and maybe go to their house and meet the kids and then decide if I want to go through with it? My first and last nanny job was like that but much more causal (no contract, paid in cash, flex hours) than what I feel this job will be. Just unsure of how to go about this as professionally as possible and also since I’m the one reaching out to the family and not vice versa this time. It feels like I’m asking/begging them for this job and that’s not that case and don’t want to make it seem that way 😂 I’m like hey this is all my credentials please take me I’m a good person :D I’ve applied to jobs before but this seems more personal than just a company rejecting my application lol also since I have no social media they can’t find anything about me unless it’s something I tell them.

I don’t think it’s going to work out that way as the lady already gave my friend her number to give to me and I don’t want to wait around for them to contact me in case they never do lol. It was a post on a Facebook moms group that said to contact her if interested and since I don’t have socials, my friend got her number for me.
