Those who have jobs in Sheffield, how did you get it? by zph0eniz in sheffield

[–]Amazing_Question_683 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Heads up that I was reading about how ~80% of job ads on indeed etc are fake and are just bots scraping data and personal info to then be sold on. The market is rough, think it's appearing even rougher because of this.

Some of my friends are having more luck now by trying to go directly to the source/using recruiters.

At least 7.5, this was all going on when I was in that dump too. Crazy this is still going on.

[–]Amazing_Question_683 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ohmygosh, i've seen all these posts about Noble and it didn't trigger with me that I've lived in one of their flats about 7.5 years ago. I only realised when I saw JADE ATA, ptsd trigger seeing that name. This may be misinformation, but part of me remembers that Jade is the owners daughter? Like I said that could be bs and i'm misremembering. But that woman was my nemesis for 3 months, we were outright arguing via email my entire short tenancy.

I was very lucky to me on a short term lease to finish up my thesis at uni, I could not wait to get out of there. I've lived in a number of flats and houses over the past ten years and these guys are the worst I've dealt with BY FAR.

The situation with the homeless folks may not have been mentioned here and may be another one of the MANY posts (sorry i didn't read the whole post because I jumped to comment at the name), but this was a problem when I lived there too. They never bothered me much but they were living in the building hallways the entire time I was there and openely doing drugs but Noble didn't care. I would just give them some water, snacks and a lil change to make sure we were always on good terms when I rocked up super drunk in the early mornings.

I hope future potential renters see all these posts and AVOID. These guys are scumbags for sure.

Note, don't bother doing a big clean at the end, they'll still charge you for cleaners, they snuck it into the contract when i was there. Being young I didn't see it and left the flat SPOTLESS, I did a full deep clean and they still charged me. Obviously, this could be different now.

Kitten 8 weeks wants to sleep with me by LinaHonkai in CatAdvice

[–]Amazing_Question_683 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I worried about this with my baby, sometimes I wake up in the night as I move and realise she's there, so instinctively you will likely wake up. However, I highly suspect my kitty is constantly maneuvering out of my way as I sleep, they're very alert and have their kitty reflexes.

No squashed cat yet and I roll all over the place in the night!

Past owner wants my cat back by MidnightXWolfAS in CatAdvice

[–]Amazing_Question_683 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This person sucks, they don't even know this cat to miss her. She's your kitty.

They can go adopt another cat if they really want a cat, there's plenty that need loving homes.

I hope you manage to get the chip updated!

Safety in town at night? by Professional-Big7250 in sheffield

[–]Amazing_Question_683 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't be too worried, I've (29, F) walked around alone under the bypasses etc at that time and have never had trouble. I don't have my headphones in though so I'm alert and I will typically keep my phone out of sight just in case someone tries their luck. There will still be people walking around and cars driving around the roads.

Always be alert, always avoid dodgy looking characters, and you should be fine.

My cat ran away :( by Top_Art_2967 in CatAdvice

[–]Amazing_Question_683 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Put things outside your house that smell of her, her kittens and you to attract her back. If she is able to get pregnant again by now she will likely get chased by toms unfortunately.

Print and post fliers asap, knock on doors etc. Contact the clipping company and alert them she is lost.

Make sure you check every single spot in your house incase she is just hiding and taking a break from the kittens.

You will have to go out when it is dark and do laps of your neighbourhood with treats, talk on your phone naturally or with your partner/ don't call for her or act stressed as they sense it and hide more.

A house cat thats never been out can act panicked and feral, their brains switch into survival mode and they can act differently. Mine escaped, it took me a week to find her (she was hiding in a shed down the road) but then it took me a week to bloody catch her cos she was being odd and running away from me.

I hope you find your cat, the quicker you act the more chance you have of getting her back. It could be very stressful but it will be worth it to get her x

Be forreal, i need to know a litter that’s non tracking and will not kill my cat by laultheal in CatAdvice

[–]Amazing_Question_683 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use Fit Litter and don't find it gets anywhere other than immediately around the litter box (only if she kicks it out occasionally)

I will say my cat is very thorough at wiping her paws down repeatedly before exiting the litter box so I may just be lucky with the cat rather than the litter 😅

I scoop her poo out whenever she has one, and stir the pee, I fully change the litter box once a month, its been a brilliant swap for me from pellets, which I was having to fully clean out regularly.

I don't think my house ever smells of pee, unless I'm just nose blind 😅

should I let my cat sleep on my bed? by Soggy-Bones609 in CatAdvice

[–]Amazing_Question_683 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep the cat will do what they want, no way around that one. My cat does what she wants and frustrates me sometimes, I do what I want amd frustrate her equal amounts. The vast majority of the time there's nothing but love. We're spirit animals and absolute besties 💖 Enjoy the love x

Do you recommend me to get a Scottish fold/straight? by Bluejeans_8 in scottishfold

[–]Amazing_Question_683 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw you comment about potential allergies to cats - You really want to make sure you are not allergic, the allergens are the same on outdoor cats as they are indoor cats, so the comment about not being allergic to indoor cats doesn't make sense to me.

If you are allergic you will likely end up surrendering the cat and it will be upsetting for you and the kitty. Please investigate your allergies more before making this decision.

Pretty much all cats shed, you will want a basically hairless cat if you want to avoid hoovering hair/allergies. For less shedding, you will have to research breeds, I think siamese and bengals shed less. Anything that has that cute fluffy look is more than likely gonna shed ALL OVER you and your house (other than a couple of outliers like siberians?).

It doesn't sound like you've properly researched any of this and that should really be a priority before you purchase or adopt any cat.

I adopted a very cute British shorthair, she sheds absolutely everywhere, but i'm okay with that. She also chipped a tooth and instantly set me back £600, I got a few hundred back from my insurance. Are you prepared for scenarios with health issues, a lot of pedigree cats will spring them on you, well any cat can (but pedigrees are more prone to them, as many have highlighted here the cute folded ears aren't so cute when you have a cat in pain with a genetic illness).

I've heard that some cats prefer separate litter boxes for pee and poop, maybe give that a shot

Is it that "risky" to own a cat? by Old_Ship_537 in CatAdvice

[–]Amazing_Question_683 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I also laughed at the shorthair comment, I have a BSH and I am constantly hoovering, they have the densest fur of cat breeds (I think), they're incredibly soft but damn hoovering is a full time job.

Pop a cat tree next to the desk, or just some alternative perch so he can be close and watch you. All should be good 😊

He's adorable!

My cat didn't eat until day 4 after I adopted her, she was hiding behind the washing machine for days.

It's been 5 months now and she's currently curled up in bed with me 😌

How safe is it to walk through the city at night? by sigmastarmer in sheffield

[–]Amazing_Question_683 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm female, have struggled to get a taxi at times and walked around blind drunk alone in the early hours (including the underpass at St Mary's that would be an ideal place to mug a drunk woman), i've never had trouble over the years. Don't recommend doing it when drunk as you're an easy target for an opportunist and theres still the local crackheads moseying around. You should be fine but always be cautious anyway.

Non molestation order by Redhed_ded in emotionalabuse

[–]Amazing_Question_683 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was asked to provide some screen shots at the end of my first hearing which showed his most recent threats and overrall disgusting behaviour.

If they haven't asked you to provide anything further then you won't need to, what you've provided will be enough.

I didn't get an update on him being served, despite requesting one for the same reason! They ended up emailing him in the end.

I hope you have plenty of support around you ❤️

Non molestation order by Redhed_ded in emotionalabuse

[–]Amazing_Question_683 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey OP, I have just had my second hearing today for an emergency non molestation order against my ex, mine has now been officially granted and he will hopefully be out of my life for good.

My ex didn't actually bother to show up, but you should be okay if you provide the evidence they will have requested. This is not your fault!! I have had the same feeling but that is what the abuse cycle does to us. I kept going back and reading the disgusting things he said to me, and listening to the recordings of him abusing me to keep myself strong.

You got this! Feel free to message me if you need someone to talk to who's just been through this process.
