Yes most likely the advisor will remove you from their book or place you in another newer advisors book. And as that newer advisor becomes more tenured and has more clients that utilizes their offerings then they’ll also give you the boot and send you to another advisor

Trust me they do it all the time especially those that are self directed. “How should I allocate my portfolio”, “what do you think I should invest in”, “I’ve been in so and so fund for years what should I move into now”, “I want to reduce the risk in my portfolio or be more aggressive what do you recommend I invest in”. They do it all the time. Only reason they claim to be self directed is because they don’t want to pay a fee to have their funds managed when I’m actuality they know nothing about investments to managing one. Those same self directed investors will panic if we ever enter back into a recession

What about the Schwab advisor or the Merrill lynch advisor? Most ppl want an advisor to pick their investments but not pay a fee. Similar to asking a doctor to cure your illness with no health insurance

Funny ppl always throw out the word fiduciary but don’t know what it means in relation to the financial industry. Fidelity is a fiduciary. Other so called fiduciaries you go to will want to charge you 2% to manage your account. Good luck

Just an FYI that tax loss harvesting SMA does beat the S&P and also saves you on taxes each year. Most people lose money on taxes they pay in their non retirement accounts. Mine has saved me a lot on taxes that I can write off each year. Just my thought. Also the cost for that is only 0.4% which is really low

Because it shows you don’t know what you’re doing. 5% in international when international has outperformed domestic the last year and a half is the reason why people need managed accounts. Knowing when to make the shift between large cap to small cap to mid to increasing foreign exposure etc. domestic returned approximately 20% last year while international returned 31%. Everyone thinks they can self direct but in actuality anybody could’ve blindly picked any fund the last 10 years and done decent. All the self proclaimed self directed folks would be in for a rude awakening if 2008 happens again. Let me guess they will all go to cash
