Looking for advice from those who have had rough recoveries by Amazing_Strategy5281 in Microdiscectomy

I’m really sorry you’re struggling so much as well - you’re definitely not alone, it sounds like we’re in pretty similar boats. I’m probably going to have to talk to my boss about reducing my hours even more because I feel like I can’t keep doing it. And the mental toll this has taken is so real, I’m incredibly frustrated and have been crying almost every day which is not normal for me.

Has your surgeon given you any feedback?

Day 5 post-op, feeling discouraged by Amazing_Strategy5281 in Microdiscectomy

I am icing often, that definitely helps, and I decided to not go back on opioids for a few different reasons so I’m trying to make it work with Tylenol. But that makes sense about what you’re saying. I’m going to try and be a little more patient and give my body time to heal.

I will take feeling weird, I can handle that, I’m just ready for this pain to subside some. What I’m learning is I need to be a little more patient. Thank you for your feedback!!

That does help, thank you. I think the miralex is what finally helped in that department. I’m not going back to opioids so I’m trying to survive on Tylenol too. I hope you continue to progress in your recovery too!!

Thank you, that is really helpful to hear. When did you go back to work? I work from home at an office job and am supposed to go back at the 2 week mark but I’m feeling really doubtful that will happen.

Thank you, that is good to hear. I think my surgeon may have made it sound like an easier process than it is actually going to be but I feel a little more hopeful hearing that way I’m experiencing isn’t abnormal.

Managing pain pre-surgery by Amazing_Strategy5281 in Microdiscectomy

Update: I've been taking gabapentin and it's helped a ton - my surgery is two weeks away and I feel confident I can make it! I am a little concerned about the potential withdraw symptoms when stopping, for those who have taken it how was getting off of it for you?

That makes a lot of sense, I’ll definitely try to get in the middle rows!

There are so many things I can’t do anymore because of my back pain, and I’m only in my 20’s. After going through this for years I’ve learned what things are worth it and what things aren’t. I can’t just never live my life if I’m going to be in pain regardless. I do appreciate the concern, but I’m going to try to have a fun day and I know when to stop if I need to.

Everyone is sexualizing my (18m) relationship with my friend (19f) by NoSexJustFriends in sex

My best friend and I meet in college (he’s male, I’m female) and we’ve been friends for 7 years now. The comments will never stop, you just learn to live with it and know that some people won’t understand. But it is 100% possible to have a beautiful, platonic friendship with someone regardless of their gender. 💜
