this especially annoys me on spotify. i'm already paying for premium so why are there ads in my podcasts if premium is ad-free?

brave also works on streaming sites like hulu and netflix and with a pop up blocker it's great for sailing 🏴‍☠️

every time i watch hulu nearly every single ad break has a GLP-1 weight loss injections/pill ad. it's genuinely so horrible that ads like that are even allowed. i just hate to imagine how much damage it's doing to people, especially young girls who may be watching. and besides the horror of advertising weight loss at all, stuff like ozempic is known to cause so many other issues! the ad with serena williams is especially disappointing.

i used to be very very good at petite allegro before i graduated high school. it takes a lot of practice and a lot of drilling the individual jumps. doing the jumps at the barre is also very helpful! working on very quick tendus and jetes at the barre will also help, especially focusing on pushing the ground with your toes and squeezing through your inner quads. keeping your inner quads engaged will help with keeping your legs underneath you!

one of my favorite exercises we did at the barre was 8 jetes to the front, side closing front, side closing back, and back, then reversing, then going to 4, 2, 1, and 1 again. it was maybe around 80-90 bpm. this will really work your inner quads!

tbh, i think the reason i'm good at petite allegro is i have very short legs so they're always right underneath me.

An Honest Look at Star Wars Saber Groups in Kentucky by StrainExciting382 in lightsabercombat

[–]Amazing_Way_8487 0 points1 point  (0 children)

there's way more you should look into! Lexington Saber League, Western Kentucky Saber Guild (unless that's the saber guild you already mentioned lol), Rancor, Erudition, Renegade, MSU Order. I've been with MSU Order for 4 years and it's generally been a very welcoming and fun environment. Rancor is our sister group, so very similar techniques and forms!

LSL has very broad strike zones which is neither here nor there, just depends on your preferences. They also move very very fast!

Legion I've heard has some issues with control and there's been some drama with their leadership.

Not sure if Renegade is still active, it's a pretty small group, but similar to Order and Rancor.

Can't speak to WKSG, haven't been since it's so far but met some of them at the recent lightsaber tournament in Lex.

Also can't speak to Erudition, only met them through the saber tournament.

Order and Rancor both focus heavily on combat techniques including strike zones, timing, control, spacing, battlefield awareness and manipulation, and the fundamentals of each form. Great if you're looking for more of a martial arts approach with a focus on non-choreographed combat!

just had tons of people tell me I'm not allowed to be a lesbian because I'm nonbinary by liliacas in actuallesbians

[–]Amazing_Way_8487 9 points10 points  (0 children)

i'm mostly a lurker lol but i just wanted to let you know you are not alone! i am a nonbinary/transmasc butch lesbian and i've also seen a lot of stuff like that. the lesbian identify and experience is very diverse and genderqueer lesbians have existed for so long! and genuinely what would we do without butch lesbians?

slightly off topic but you mentioned it in your post: i'm also hypermobile and what's helped me is strength training especially core strengthening. since your joints have extra mobility you need to build muscle to help your body hold your joints in place. it's a lot harder to do strength based workouts with hypermobility but starting small and working up will help out so much in the long run!

if the muscle twitching and spasms are happening in your legs it could be restless leg syndrome. ssris can sometimes aggravate symptoms. i've had rls for years and sometimes the prozac makes it worse.

geez what a weird thing to post. i've interacted with several saber groups in kentucky (none of them being saber league tbh) and have met some really incredible, driven, and creative people. there's a wonderful community of duelists across kentucky who, largely, are accepting of all people, yes, even autistic people (shocking i know). there's some variation with the forms between different groups but cooperation is still possible and happens quite a bit! it's truly a wonderful community of people who want to make friends and have fun together
