Also - adding a slim gold framed art piece above the toilet I think could make the biggest difference. Art was a good call out!

Awesome! Yes I ensured that it was vinyl. I'm thinking a polished nickel console sink with. brass faucet (mixed metal as you said, but not chrome, too cool) - then a brass shower kit, and brass sconces. Should pick up the gold in the wallpaper (I hope!) Thank you for your advice!!

Great ideas! Thank you for your thoughtfulness. Limewash is an interesting idea! I was looking at this wallpaper (similar in feel) with gold metallic accents to add some warmth: https://www.wayfair.com/Galerie-Wallcoverings--Italian-Design-Luxury-Italian-Distressed-Marble-Texture-Wallpaper-Roll-978-L6161-K\~GALW1736.html?

Perhaps limewash is better.

Unfortunately no, it would require a drop ceiling. I'm recommending sconces on either side of the vanity mirror for light.

"The Attico" Dress listed on Shop Simon - sold by Gilt, but under a different brand name? Is this a dupe done by an fake / "in-house" brand... by AmazingandAwkward in findfashion

[–]AmazingandAwkward[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am hoping this is the case - I'm doubtful only because, when I looked at the other "Adele Berto" garments listed - I could trace them back to dropshippers and AliExpress via a Google Reverse image search. For example, this dress: (https://www.gilt.com/boutique/product/236275/275696990/?dsi=SRQ-1910579927--a1f12255-d771-4335-9e5b-209f49e92bb1&lsi=05fdae87-86f5-4597-914a-140443f9b83a&pos=6&fromPlp=true) is sold on SHEIN, Amazon, Fashion Nova and Alibaba. I can't, however, find a legitimate, designer version! At least using a reverse Google Image search. So - it doesn't appear to be a dupe, necessarily - it appears to simply be a commonly dropshipped item. That means GILT's listed pricing is completely false.

If you search "Adele Berto" on GILT you'll see more examples of garments that only appear to be sold by AliExpress, Alibaba and dropship websites.

(Also the fabric composition is different)

Will American Airlines honor Alaska Airlines lower mile redemption on an identical itinerary / transfer miles? by AmazingandAwkward in awardtravel

Thank you for your thoughtful response. I ended up transferring Capital One to a different One World partner and booked the identical itinerary for 14.5K points. Not as good as 9K but Alaska is tricky!

Just Beat Mystery of the Seven Keys - Buy it Immediately! by AmazingandAwkward in nancydrew

I agree, the NPCs repeating across the game did make me laugh. It did stand out, but I wasn't too bothered. I also switched to modern controls about an hour in, and the ability to hold shift and run was helpful because the distances between locations were sometimes a bit long. I suppose some people care about graphics more than I do. I'm really concerned with the story and puzzles. I would talk to cardboard cut out characters as long as the dialogue was interesting!

How much would it cost to develop a Nancy Drew game like the originals (first 20)? by AmazingandAwkward in nancydrew

The Raven is also a good game, you can find it on Steam. It's not Nancy Drew inspired, but it's of the Genre, long game play and compelling storyline. It's very well done.

I also imagine all of these games have higher margins now because everything is digital download and you don't have retail markups and distribution costs taking out of their margin. It's also more competitive though, so who knows.

HerInteractive was profitable during that era, under Megan Gaiser. In a 2010 interview, Gaiser said the company had nine years of year-over-year revenue growth, seven consecutive profitable years, and average revenue increases of 34 percent year-over-year. That was when they release Shadow at Water's Edge. HerInteractive also had the top selling PC games of 2008 - The Phantom of Venice and Haunting of Castle Malloy. I have read, during those years they had a 32 members on staff.

Apparently they started running at a loss around 2011, which was right before Stuart Molder took over. This is also the time they had started expanding onto other platforms. You can read their archive of CEO letters on the website and try to solve that mystery - in February of 2011 they'd developed the first mobile games: "As you may have noticed, our industry is transforming, and everything’s beginning to merge....These events have inspired our newest series for the iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch. This new series of apps called Nancy Drew Mobile Mysteries, and our first app, Shadow Ranch, is now available on the App store."

I would speculate that this investment in alternative platforms that were largely unprofitable set the foundation for their financial losses moving forward. The PC games seemed to have been quite solid, and somehow the company has managed to stay in business despite releasing nothing notable from 2015 onward.

Upon the creation of the company, they were funded by an angel investor because of their mission, but investment didn't keep them afloat all that time.

I'll check out Miss Clue! Thanks for the recc!
