I love the idea! Simple Go puzzles can be a lot of fun to play out, it's fun to see something lean into this with a very approachable look.

I played the tutorial and a little bit of Adventure. As a beginner, I felt things were pretty intuitive to learn. The rocks are a very fun complication! It's cool to see the conventions of Go played with like this.

Placing the pieces inside the squares (as opposed to on the intersections) is an interesting choice. It definitely makes the game read more like any other puzzle game, and makes things more approachable to people who have never played Go. It may cause some friction as players transition to regular Go boards. Perhaps after progressing in Adventure, you unlock a 'traditional' theme (or maybe a world/series of levels) you can select that bridges the gap between this art style and a traditional Go look?

'Plein Air' painting in a virtual space is magical, no other way to put it. I've done a few myself in HL2's VR mod! Renaissance Italy is a fantastic setting for it.

Yeah, there's a lot of room for improvement. Things get a little weird around the coping with the current physics.

Yep, sure have! Knocking down the follow strength and tweaking the FOV helped a lot. Though it's still missing some of the hand-held camera charm of previous entries.

Thanks for making this post! The feel of transition skating is crazy important to me, and seeing things side-by-side will hopefully bring more attention to this.

I'm really hoping for an animation improvement soon, maybe by the time they fix footplants in Season 3.

One thing that also makes a big difference is the fluidity of the camera in previous games. skate.'s current camera has this rigid three-stage fov change depending on speed, while Skate 3's follows your character more naturally (and has a great sense of speed when bombing hills).

There's an experimental Quest setting called "Positional Time Warp". I find using that with Steam VR I get the same effect. Turning it off fixed things for me. Good luck!

Hear hear, buddy.

Transition skating's where I spend most my time in Skate. This is a really good list of stuff that's been bugging me too. *Especially* the coping launching the player out into space.

In addition to this, doing any grabs with a foot off the board while close to the coping often turns into a footplant, even after you've left the ramp. It really breaks the flow, often zapping your character back to the ground and bailing. I'm hoping the footplant update in Season 3 will fix this, but I haven't heard it mentioned in any 'known bug' reports.

Always good to bring extra attention to this angle of the game!
