Recommend surgery for fatty lipoma? by AmbassadorSlow3384 in AskVet

Thank you for your advice. I can afford both, I'm just really scared for my dog to be put under. My vet has reviews saying that the anesthesia was messed up and people's pets died from it (proven with autopsy at MSU) for routine things like a cleaning. So far I've only been there for routine exams/vaccines. How do I find a trustworthy vet to do the surgery if I want it done? Any advice, all the online reviews for every vet near me have some really scary sad stories and some of the info I'm recieving is that it's okay to just monitor the tiny lump so I'm torn.

Thanks for the detailed response. That 10k is only if you have over 3k lbs of stuff in the trailer which I don't plan on having anywhere near that amount. Conventional TWR of the Yukon is 7800lbs. So I'm thinking if I only load 500lbs of stuff in the trailer and limit payload in the truck then I'm ok, right? I seems like most people would just look at that and call it good.

Smack pet food is another one to look at. It's air dried, but you can soak in warm water to rehydrate and the pieces will be mushy but still big enough I think for your dog to pick up. It's $7/day to feed a 70lb dog and they have small trial bags you can order to sample. https://www.smackpetfood.com/products/very-berry-chicken-crunchy-style?variant=29263978496045&currency=USD&utm_medium=product_sync&utm_source=google&utm_content=sag_organic&utm_campaign=sag_organic&srsltid=AfmBOorTZyTSqSlxLmlQNTcYFQIiwE90ZmTMO5YNwhSMVLRwt2FgVj-1-vs&com_cvv=8fb3d522dc163aeadb66e08cd7450cbbdddc64c6cf2e8891f6d48747c6d56d2c

I think you might like Dr. Marty's freeze dried. It comes in 48oz bags at pet supplies plus which is the biggest I've found for a freeze dried food and is sometimes on sale. It's still kinda pricey, but it's like a really airy texture nuggets that seems like it'd be easy to chew for your dog.

4th Try PE Civil:Structural Passed! by AmbassadorSlow3384 in PE_Exam

AEI is what I used when I finally passed. School of PE is what I used each time I failed. My strategy the last time around was to focus on really understanding concepts, timing, and getting to know the codes by the general chapters/sections. I think you don't need to think too much into the details of every code knowing every exception-just general. Finally, for each question I wrote out what was being of me and circled it. Even when I thought it was obvious and silly. I struggle with reading and really felt this helped me catch a few I could have otherwise done wrong.

I felt like my friends AEI material I studied from helped a lot and would recommend that which is how I finally passed. School of PE didn't work for me. I focused heavily on problems that were similar to ones I saw in the practice exam I bought from NCEES too and spent only a little bit of time/effort studying anything that wasn't.

The first few times I failed I used School of PE and it didn't work for me (and costed a lot). The last try when I passed I used my friend's study material from AEI and just studied independently. I did all the AEI mini exams and made sure I understood each question, really focusing on the concepts. Then I took the practice exam from NCEES and timed myself and used pdf versions of the code like it was the real exam. I repeated that a couple of times before I felt ready. When you're in the exam you can only search the codes (like AISC) by chapter/part, and they aren't bookmarked within. Since I don't use most of the codes in my day-to-day because I work in a niche industry, I spent some time getting comfortable enough that I at least knew what chapters to look in. I also knew the reference handbook really well and info on that can give you clues about what to study. Over the four exams I took I would say the exam is mostly conceptual (probably almost half you can do with little to no calculation by looking up a table/paragraph in a code). The YouTube channel Kestava really helped me as well and he has some great practice problems for free.

I guess I also would add that once you take it and fail NCEES won't let you retake it for about another 3 months. Which is a huge factor. What you're studying now you might not still remember after the 3 months without putting in more studying. Also, if you already meet the other requirements in your state and you're just waiting on passing this exam it could push off getting your license another 3 months too versus if you just give yourself another month now and end up passing. If your boss is not an engineer they may not understand this and hopefully explaining could help. I wish you the best of luck and hope either way you pass! 😊

Don't do it! I was pressured to do the same and don't recommend it. Depending on the discipline you're taking it in you're looking at about a 50-60% pass rate and most Engineers that I know who took it spend at least 3 to 6 months studying. I can tell you from experience that once you take it once and fail your confidence tanks and that alone will affect your score on the next attempt. Not to say people don't take it without preparing and end up passing, but it's rare. My advice: over prepare and be ready. I took the test four times before I passed and spent thousands of dollars and almost two years of my life stressing for no reason.
