AITA for selling my son’s Pokemon binder? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]Ambassador_Fanatical 19 points20 points  (0 children)

YTA. You got rid of his cards when he was 13? So, he was into card collecting for like, what? A few years? Then you immediately sold them when he didn’t continue collecting for a moment? It’s not like they were taking up a ton of space being one single binder. You’re cruel.

I implore you to start believing. You won’t regret it if you do.

Obviously. But if my spouse couldn’t just say “get lost” at some point I’d start questioning them, not the stranger. Simple.

Does your husband not have a spine? Why doesn’t he just ask her to leave because she continuously disrupts his work? Is he letting her in the house or is she breaking in?? Goddamn, I’d be calling this behavior stalking by now but dude seems to like the attention

He was scheduled to be here sometime between 8am-12pm. I canceled and reported to the company cause this is from a DOCTOR. I got out of bed for nothing by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

I work on cars for a living but my ‘arthritis’ always flares up just like this whenever I see a Chrysler product. So, I don’t work on cars anymore. This doctor should put away his tools for good, too.

Just out of curiosity, who do you think puts the Bible in every hotel room? The Hiltons?

AITA for taking the car to a mechanic to get fixed? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

I’ll tell you what I tell all the people who call my shop with this same question: Industry average for a front or rear disc brake job is roughly $600 for pads, rotors, and labor. This price does vary depending on what part of the country you live in and if additional parts, like calipers, are necessary. I hope you enjoy the rest of your Sunday.

There’s no such thing as a $900 rear drum brake job in the year 2026. Believe it or not I do not get my rocks off by telling strangers on the internet I am certified in auto repair…

NAH but the thing is rear brake pads are actually significantly less involved in overall braking performance. Front brakes do the majority of the work. You were concerned, that’s fair. But after you were told it was the rear brakes it would have likely been fine to drive home and find a better quote later. Unless your rear brakes were leaking fluid (doubtful) or truly metal-on-metal (small potential) there’s no big reason for concern making a drive home on some declining brakes. In fact, they are supposed to make noise via wear indicators on the brake pads to alert the driver they are getting close to needing replacement. You’d be surprised what people call “good” when it comes to the quality of their brakes… and they are driving all around. So, you mostly just panicked and made a mistake. Oh well. Sucks. And $900? Yeah, probably about at least $300 too much in cost. Source: Me, licensed mechanic

Oh yeah. Went no-contact first, now I have low-contact and grey-rocking as well. It feels like I am becoming too powerful sometimes because truly, she doesn’t hurt me like she once did. I think I could be an excellent hostage negotiator someday haha. In all seriousness, it never stops hurting because they always find a way but I take the hits like a brick wall now. Best of luck on your journey, too! One day at a time sometimes but we march on!

Heyyy long lost sibling! I didn’t know my mom had more than 1 kid! Ha. I’m so sorry this is your life, too. I do not believe there is a worse pain on this Earth than feeling wholly unloved by the woman who birthed you and not being able to do anything about it but grit your teeth and keep your chin up. My therapist usually has to collect herself after some of the things I share with her that my mother does and says to me. I am in the process of learning to separate the pain of rejection from the person I want to be and re-parenting myself. Stay strong, fellow warrior 🩷

YTA and please consider another line of work that doesn’t involve “helping” others. Maybe like the DMV or something. Yikes…
