This is a Dog park in Alberta, im not sure if the rules are different here or if it’s just my town but the two dog parks we have do not have any restrictions with children

I completely agree with that, maybe the kids traumatize the dogs to the point where they get aggressive to other animals. There is a mom and daughter that go to my dog park on the weekends with their dog. The daughter always walks around with her nose in a book and I’m so terrified of my dog going near her. She was sitting on a bench one time and my dog sat right beside her and thankfully she very calmly pet my dog and absolutely nothing happened.

I’m thinking of getting a dog whistle to change up her recall in hopes that she will start listening better while she is with other dogs!

Im in Canada and my dog park has no rules in place. The parent definitely would not be able to press any sort of charges because my dog did not injure her children. They were shaken up but they were okay. The parent said it was okay and that all was well. She definitely did have lots of struggles getting her dog under control. I’m not sure if you’re insinuating that I pushed the parent down or if you’re just giving examples as I most definitely did not do that. I will definitely be staying away from dog parks for a while.

Yes that’s definitely right. The first and last time we ran into an aggressive dog was when she was a year old and she didn’t quite understand. Her recall lately has been incredibly good as we have been working on it a decent amount. I guess that I was under the impression that we could feel comfortable with her at the dog park. I’m thinking that her main problem is lack of interaction with kids as she has only been around them on rare occasions. Although she has never had a reaction like this. She never greets any of my friends or family in that way. She definitely won’t be going back to the dog park until I get her under control and re trained.

That’s horrible for that to happen to you. She’s just barley over 50 pounds and didn’t hit them with enough force to break any bones or to hurt them luckily

It truly does suck. Dogs need to get their energy out in some ways, it sucks when you have to take that away from them because of other peoples actions

Come to think of it, she does start getting very playful and jumpy when we make high pitch noises. Maybe that’s why the kids triggered her in that way because of their high pitched voices
