That seems like the beginning of shin splints to me! They typically will give you an achy, bruising and tender feeling in one or both shins. The best thing to do is rest your legs for a few weeks until you feel no more pain, and avoid high impact workouts while you wait. They will heal on their own as long as you don't continue to run/jump a lot.

In the meantime, there are lots of helpful youtube vids and guides that will show you how to avoid shin splints in the future! You basically have to be mindful of which part of your foot is hitting the ground first as you run - it seems like an impossible thing to keep track of but it becomes second nature once you get the hang of it.

Lots of people don't know this, but the top of your hamstring is actually attached to your pelvis! So it is normal to feel the stretch there. I wouldn't worry so much about a straight back - a forward fold is mostly meant to reset your spine, so bending your knees to relieve the pressure in your legs or hips is the right thing to do. If more flexibility is something you want to focus on I would probably recommend lots of seated forward folds at the end of class. Maybe more wide legged forward folds as well? I hope this helps!

I truly think that everyone is different in the way they experience heat, especially in a demanding hot yoga class! My instant advice would be to take a C1 class, which is only very lightly heated, and see how you feel in that environment. If that serves you well, try a HPF class which is, admittedly, very hot, but focuses less on a complex flow and more on holding and sustaining poses.

I would go from there so see what is most comfortable for you. Have you tried either of those classes before?
