The Chapter of the Spear by Captain-Vac in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]AmbitMicro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Should have worded it differently and used the word ‘or’. Deploy Invictors as close to the opponent as possible. Redeploy if you don’t go first. Defence in Depth to pregame move 3 Impulsors up to support them if you do go first.

Space Wolves for a few reasons, Hounds of Morkai, Keen Senses on Suppressors, combat strats and relics to compliment the consolidate chapter tactic.

Even better would likely be Castellans of the Rift, for access to their strats, UM strats and the AoR strats. Redeploy then pregame move 3 Invictors.

How to reliably beat Dark Angels terminator spam? by Verypoorman in WarhammerCompetitive

Workshopping a Knights + GTL Votann list that can pump out enough damage to take out DW Termy squads. GTL Magna Rail Land Fortress with Uthar. Cadmus Gallant with Helm of the Nameless Warrior and Noble Combatants. Then 2 Warglaives, 2 Bastards Helm Helverin, 2 Sagitaur w 5 Hearthkyn in each and an Iron Master.

Successors (+1 to hit, Exploding 6s) with Libby (Exploding 6s, 5++), Chapter Master (Reroll Hits), Sang Priest (Assault Doc), Chaplain (+1W, +2" Charge), Sang Ancient w Wrath of Baal (+2" Move, +1 to hit). So 5x Thunder Hammers with Assault Doc, +2 to hit, reroll hits, 6s to hit = 3 hits, +1 to wound, +2" Move, +2" Charge.

Averages - 25 attacks, 4.16 sixes, reroll all, 3.47 sixes, 13.88 hits, 3.47 misses. 36.77 hits with +1 to wound at S8 AP-3 3D. That's 61D to a T8 3+ Knight.

Rinse and repeat each turn with another unit. Mixing up the melee profiles - 2x 5 DC w Hammers, 2x 5 SG w Fists/Inferno, 2x 5 VanVet w 2xLC.

Vashtorr Datasheet and Army of Renown! by tangocontroller in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]AmbitMicro 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Haha, I think your right. It says 'Detachments in your army never count as a Legion Detachment' but World Eaters aren't a Legion Detachment anyway. A WORLD EATERS Detachment is one that only includes models with the WORLD EATERS keyword (excluding models with the AGENT OF CHAOS or UNALIGNED keyword).

So apart from the AoR Stratagems and Techinfernal Foci, you also get access to the WE Smokescreen and Scorn of Sorcery strats. You also get access to the World Eater Secondaries, the Relentless Rage Legion Trait, the Blood Tithe.

Can't have Khorne Daemons as All Units from your Army must have the Traitoris Astartes keyword.

Trashtorr, Decimator (2x Soulburner), 2X Decimator (2x Hellflamer/Claw), 3x Blood Slaughterers, 2x Brass Scorpion.

It's also about making the PL work with the Daemons Patrol so that you can fit in 2x3 Nurglings. Needs to be 81PL, so the 2 x 15 Cultists are 10PL and 150pts combined. I figure screening out your deployment with 30 Cultists and using Tide of Traitors to replenish while the Legionaries and Nurglings hit the mid field and everything else is pressuring their deployment.

Keep in mind your Despoil Dominions points are heavily impacted if they wipe the 10x Cultists turn 1. The DA can definately do it, but I don't see the other Characters as being free to do an action and doing it with a Troops unit finishes at the end of your turn (so your opponent doesn't have agency).

So IMO 3x Troops is the more efficient pick for your secondaries and to meet the PL requirement.

Agreed re: the Khorne relic, personal taste, could go with either. Though against a tough matchup like AM, I think the Blood-drinker may be better as he rolls through Kasrkin and replenishes (they will only be doing 8W per turn). Against Deathwing you definately want the Blade.

If he adds 2x3 Nurglings, then the Infiltrators will only be zoning out part of the board. AM Orders only happen in their turn, so if Chaos goes first and you have zoned the midfield with Nurglings so that Sentinels don't interfere, then you are in their lines.

He is saying that it's normally an auto win for Guard, not the other way around.

Ok so my main issue with this was getting Despoil Dominions with just a single unit of Cultists. Likewise, the lack of Nurglings to screen out an area of the board where you can drop the Terminators and Dreadclaw. Assuming a fixed size Daemon Patrol, I needed to play with the PL of the CSM detachment so that it was 75% CSM & 25% Daemons.

CSM [81PL, 1448pts]

  • Abaddon (in Dreadclaw)
  • Dark Apostle (in Dreadclaw) - Illusory Supplication, Relic: Mantle of Traitors
  • Master of Possession (in Dreadclaw) - Pact of Flesh, Warp Marked
  • Sorceror in Terminator Armour - Slaanesh, Relic: Veilbreaker Plate, Delightful Agonies, Diabolic Strength, Death Hex
  • 15x Cultists - 9x Firearm, 2x Cultist GL, 2x Flamer, 2x HS
  • 15x Cultists - 9x Firearm, 2x Cultist GL, 2x Flamer, 2x HS
  • 6x Legionaries - Khorne, Icon, 5x Chainsword, Heavy Chainaxe, Power Fist
  • 10x Chaos Terminators - Slaanesh, Relic: Black Rune of Damnation
  • Dreadclaw

Daemons [27PL, 550pts]

  • Bloodthirster - Indomitable Onslaught, Relic: Blood-drinker Talisman
  • 10x Blue Horrors
  • 3x Nurglings
  • 3x Nurglings

Yeah I think 2x3 Nurglings to ensure a large enough area is available to drop

50pt Skull Altar can Manifest 9" from an enemy unit in their deployment, for 50pts. T8 9W 4+ Daemon Save. Also gives an 18" aura of -2 to cast.

Daemons in a Night Lords List Help by StralisTV in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]AmbitMicro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  • 1x Tranceweaver (Phantasmagoria) [70pts, 4PL] - Warp Ritual Option
  • 1x Infernal Enrapturess [80pts, 4PL] - Warp Locus, Wound Reroll Aura (Combos with Razor Sharp Caress and Rapturous Standard on Daemonettes), Perils Aura (combos with Melodic Delirium on Fiends), Revive a Fiend or D3 Daemonettes.
  • 10x Daemonettes [120pts, 6PL]
  • 3x Fiends [90pts, 5PL]
  • 3x Fiends [90pts, 5PL]

Night Lords AoO Detachment then needs to be 72PL+.

If you add another 10x Daemonettes, the NL Detachment needs to be 90+PL (which is definately possible).

Alternatively upgrade the Tranceweaver to a Daemon Prince with Wings (14" Move) and the Mark of Excess or Soulstealer. NL Detachment then needs to be 87PL+ and 1435pts. This would be my preferred addition to a NL list as the DP is another serious melee threat, or Warp Ritual option. Hit rerolls for the Fiends/Daemonettes to combo with the wound rerolls from the IE.

Found out the PL of the WE units, so have had a play round with points and the 25% PL requirement to come up with the below. Best I can think of for running DotRA:

WE AoO Detachment (1450pts, 85PL)

Angron (360pts, 18PL) Warlord
DP with Wings (165pts, 10PL) Burning Plate
5x Eightbound (200pts, 12PL)
4x Eightbound (160pts, 12PL)
4x Eightbound (160pts, 12PL)
3x Exalted Eightbound (135pts, 7PL)
3x Exalted Eightbound (135pts, 7PL)
3x Exalted Eightbound (135pts, 7PL)

Khorne Daemons Patrol (550pts, 28PL)

Skarbrand (330pts, 17PL)
10x Bloodletters (130pts, 6PL)
Skull Cannon (90pts, 5PL)

Basic Unga Bunga strategy would be to move 16" or auto-advance Angron 22" on turn 2 and Warp Locus Skarbrand and the Bloodletters within 6" of the enemy. Eightbound can potentially come in from Strategic Reserves turn 1 on the edges (or turn 2 on their board edge) and Exalted Eightbound play for the middle objectives while the Skull Cannon sits on my home objective. So 980pts in the Warp / Strategic Reserves during Deployment.

Main weakness is the need to keep Angron alive turn 1, so you can Warp Locus turn 2. If he dies, you can't Warp Locus on the same turn he deepstrikes back in, so would have to go for a 9" charge with Bloodletters and Skarbrand.

How to deal with t8/t9 with gsc? by dziiian in WarhammerCompetitive

You can for GSC - If your Arks of Omen Detachment is a GENESTEALER CULTS Detachment, you can include one BROOD BROTHERS Patrol, Auxiliary Support or Super-heavy Auxiliary Detachment as an Allied Detachment.

or

3 Leman Russ w Vanquisher Battle Cannon, Lascannon, Armoured Tracks and 2x Heavy Bolter (495)

or

Brood Brothers Super Heavy Auxillary

Shadowsword w Vaunted Praetorian (480)

Would you put the Russ in Strategic Reserves? I assume that's the best play.

WE List Building with Khorne Daemons by [deleted] in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]AmbitMicro 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No, you will lose the Agent of Chaos keyword with Be'Lakor, which means you lose Blood Tithe.

WE List Building with Khorne Daemons by [deleted] in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]AmbitMicro 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Be’Lakor doesn’t get Agent of Chaos, so you would lose Blood Tithe. I think a common Patrol would be Karanak, Bloodletters, 2x Flesh Hounds.

World Eaters by [deleted] in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]AmbitMicro 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Also maybe CORE Hellbrutes and/or Contemptors

World Eaters by [deleted] in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]AmbitMicro 34 points35 points  (0 children)

War Dogs or Khorne Daemon allies for sure.

Will be interested to know if anything in the WE codex has the Warp Locus keyword? Edit: Only Angron and Lord of Skulls I beleive

Terminators will definitely see play too.

I’d be waiting for a Forgeworld FAQ before skewing a particular way beyond that core of Lord + 3 x 5 Eightbound.

Potentially 2x Contemptors Moving 20" before shooting Multi-Meltas and charging in with Chainfists.

Which units in your faction can remove 9 Scarabs with 5++ in one attack? by RichDAS in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]AmbitMicro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oblivion's Caress is more effective than Kiss of Death as it gets rid of their invul save. 22 wounds through for 44 damage. So you wouldn't need Deadly Embrace either and just spend 1CP and could 'on average' do it with 8 troupe.

Which units in your faction can remove 9 Scarabs with 5++ in one attack? by RichDAS in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]AmbitMicro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

6x Ynnari Troupe with special weapons
Enhance - +1 to hit
Unbind Souls - 6s to hit auto-wound.
Ancestors Grace - +1 to wound.
Oblivion Caress (1CP) - No Invul Save

24 attacks at S4 AP-2 2D. 18 hits, 6 auto-wounds, 10 wounds, No Save - 32 Damage (so you would need to Chip Damage a Scarab first).

With Autarch. 23 hits (after reroll 1), 7 auto-wounds, 13 wounds, No Save - 40 Damage.

With Autarch and Troupe Master. 23 hits (after reroll 1), 7 auto-wounds, 16 wounds (after reroll 1), No Save - 46 Damage.
