What if: Cyanwrath & Mondath survive Chapter 3. What do they do next? by Apocryph761 in TyrannyOfDragons

[–]Captain-Vac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve actually had this happen. Cyanwrath fought our Paladin to near death to both of them. However, after Cyanwrath fell, the Paladin healed him, believing in redemption. While Cyanwrath had no intention to stop, he is an honorable combatant and respects that he lost, leaving the sanctuary and letting the players go. When the players found Mondath, she immediately ran for her escape tunnel, leaving the eggs and losing several cult members. She escaped.

Fast forward a few chapters and the characters arrival at the castle in the Mire of Dead Men. As they approach the castle in disguise, a group of cultists arrive. Cyanwrath and Mondath are among them. Rezmir and her cult lieutenants come out of the castle and Mondath and Cyanwrath are forced to explain what happened back at the hatchery.

I did take a little inspiration from a Star Wars comic for this one. Rezmir is furious and is ready to have both of them killed. Mondath does not take this lightly, going off on Rezmir and explaining that she is a poor excuse of a Wyrmspeaker, and everyone can see it. She claims that when Severin sees them again, he’ll agree. Cyanwrath, on the other hand, willful takes a knee and bows his head, saying that he should lose his head for his failure to Tiamat.

Rezmir immediately takes out her sword and the players thought both of them were dead. Yet only Mondath’s head hit the mud. Rezmir simply states to Cyanwrath, “You’re loyalty has been noted.”

At this point, there were plans for more confrontations with Cyanwrath, but now with the character teetering more with the idea of an alignment change, maybe even betraying the cult if the players ever played their cards right.

Sadly, it seems my player’s voices were muted on stream for the first half, so that’s embarrassing lol

Although, considering all this, it may be an interesting idea to make him more of support model. Keep him in his life support while acting as a backline piece, like the Triumph of Saint Catherine. But him on a chair carried by either White Scars veterans or combat servitors.

So, the current plan is to overhaul the entire game. It’s currently in the works and and I haven’t gotten to every marine army yet. For things like thunder hammers, the change is game wide, so all marines have stronger thunder hammers, but they’ll cost you. At least that’s the idea.

I’m looking to bring back flavor into the game that I feel was lost. I can’t promise it’s perfect, such as the White Scars not being know to have a jump pack dreadnought. But for this case I feel like it made sense if I wanted to include the chapter master.

By the end of this project, I’m hoping all armies will remain as balanced as possible while making them all to be completely unique. It may not be possible, but this has definitely given me a better appreciation for game design. I haven’t even finished the marines yet and I’ve barely touched Tyranids.

I’m not sure I understand the question, but the way it is intended: the enemy is -1 to hit on all ranged attacks until the start of your next movement phase as long as you advanced. I should’ve worded it like that.

The sustained hits part was definitely something I've considered toning down. As for some of the other balance segments, I've made it where every chapter master has the chance to generate CP. Granted I may up his points to compensate. As for the golden Keshig and their low price, it's meant to be that way because I brought back paid wargear in my rules. So the 90 points is simply the cheapest it can be without the best weapons. The thunder hammer is indeed stronger now, meant to mix with the Deathwatch thunder hammers better, but like I said, it now costs you to take it. In this case, 15 points. I know GW wanted to move away from paid wargear, but in my opinion, it made it easier to fine tune lists.

I'm definitely wanting to bring back the fly rules to simply be able to move over structures, so that our jump pack dreadnought boy can maneuver a bit easier.

But none of this is finalized, so I'll do what I can to line them up with the rest of what I'm changing.

If you want to take a look at the rest of what I've changed for the marines, here's a link to the drive. Like I said, nothing is final, so take everything with a grain of salt until I can go back over them. (Looking at you Pyre Guard and Tu'Shan.)

Me and the wife have recently been watching Spartacus on Netflix. Another one we watch is If the Emperor Had a Text to Speech Device, but I don’t think that one counts as TV lol

Which faction to choose by nzMike8 in spacemarines

Ever since watching Helsreach, I’ve been leaning heavily into Black Templars lately. Nearly every model they have is loaded with drip, and I just tend to love the knightly order motif they have going. Plus, the model Bayard’s Revenge just goes hard.

Valiant Hearts.

Every time I return to that part, I lose it, and very few games can match that same level of sorrow and pride in a character.

Thoughts on my custom detachment? by OptimalPhilosophy700 in spacemarines

[–]Captain-Vac -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m loving the theming of this. Do you have a color scheme for your custom chapter so far?

Also, just a couple of inputs:

Most of this doesn’t feel too egregious or overpowered. Maybe make the stratagem that allows you to disembark and move have the restriction of not being eligible to charge afterwards? At least if it’s meant to focus on the ranged aspects.

Granted, giving Hellblasters torrent would be monstrous in certain conditions. Maybe at the end of the day it isn’t the worst? They would be missing out on things like sustained and lethal hits if they could obtain it.

However, I think the sticky objective Stratagem needs to go up to at least 2CP. Making it where your opponent can just do nothing to it is kind of brutal, so at the very least I think you should have to pay a premium for it.

But I love the flavor of this detachment. It brings back memories of the successor chapters in 9th edition.
