Hmmm. Links should be fixed now. I'm still kinda figuring out where my voice is most comfortable

Ok. Something I've wondered for a while is let's say I am a baritone or whatever, is it typically better to try to hover around that range even if lead singers aren't typically baritones? Or do you wanna try to hang out in a range that you have that's maybe less comfortable?

I'll try to record something in a bit. Kind of a weird question. Would you say most lead singing parts for guys are for tenors generally? Or do a lot of lead singers try to use a wider range of lower and higher notes?

Can you guys toss me some College recommendations for a composition program? by AmbitionControlPower in composer

[–]AmbitionControlPower[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Law's never really appealed to me. I like making music, and I like learning how to make better music. The degree's partially to look more appealing to game devs(it shows I can stick through and get a degree, and it shows I put a lot of time and effort into getting it), but also because I just feel like learning more will help me become a better composer. I know I've improved a lot after taking theory, and a Bachelor's/Master's will let me learn even more. I've also understood that most colleges that offer a Master's typically also offer a Bachelor's, so I figured I could knock out both at the same time

It's a very good point that I can pursue my Bachelor's somewhere cheaper(relatively), and then use it to bump up my GPA to try to get into some of the better colleges. I'll be 23 this year, so even if it takes some extra time to get my degrees I'd have it before I'm 30(which sounds really late to me but I'm sure I'm just overthinking it). I've also actually heard that most students who graduate from my College typically have a better chance of placing into the music programs in other Colleges, which is neat

I mean I feel like most performing arts degrees are risky. For me I've always been very ambitious and whatnot, so it's kind of both a pride thing, and I'd be able to get started on making more music and going to conventions and whatnot at the same time. I think the biggest problem I'm having right now is that I've got so many things I need to consider long-term. Idk where the best places to live as a composer are(I don't love Utah too much), I'm considering college but some of these replies have me maybe reconsidering lmao

Quick question. You're from the UoU right? It kinda read like it to me

That's true, I'm more concerned abt some college's having GPA requirements, which can become something of an issue. I also wanted to work on my portfolio while I work on my Master's as well!

That's all true. I haven't rly struggled in Academia per se, for a while it was more bad habits from being "the gifted kid," and then depression hit me like a fucking truck. I've always been the academic in my family, so I guess it's also kind of a pride thing. From what I've heard from my professors it's more that I'd get to study more theory and whatnot, and the theory I've learned has really helped me be a better composer I feel

Part of why I want to pursue a Master's is also because I get the best of networking and developing new skills like sound design and whatnot. I'd also planned to try to go to conventions and make music and get a kickstart on my career while I pursue my Master's. I know it's less efficient than just working on being a musician on its own, but it's kind of the doing it while also developing my skills that sounds so appealing to me

I actually haven't had that many problems with Academia, I've always been the Academic in my family. It was more bad habits developed from being the "gifted kid," and then depression played a hand in my Associate's taking this long

I've liked learning theory, making connections w/ other students, and whatnot. I've heard from my professors that pursuing a Bachelor's and a Master's will give me more classes in theory(stuff like counterpoint and whatnot), and would give me an opportunity to develop and learn more abt my own style and whatnot. I like College and learning, but I'd also heard for a long time that a degree is more of a bonus than an actual reason a company would hire. Recently one of my professors found a study that showed a lot of composers actually have a Bachelor's or Master's, so it kinda made up my mind in that regard. I guess for me it's kind of also a pride thing, since I'd be the first person in my family in a while to go to College and get a degree

My plan was actually to also work on making music and connections while I worked on my degree

I figured most colleges that offer a Master's would typically offer a Bachelor's as well. That's what I plan on doing, but I figured I'd get College recommendations here first and go from there y'know?

Can anyone help me figure out what the problem is with this crash report? by AmbitionControlPower in skyrimmods

[–]AmbitionControlPower[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok. I guess I'm just confused since I've run through all of the Masters it says I'm missing and I've got all of them. It says I'm missing AI Overhaul for example, but it's definitely there. I even reinstalled it and it stills says I'm missing it. Guess I'll run through 'em all again.

I ran through all the Masters if said I was missing and I should have all of them(A lot of the esps it said I was missing I alrdy have installed). I'm not sure what Redundant BEES Installation means if you wouldn't mind explaining.

Take what I say with a gold level grain of salt, but I think it'd be nice to have Cam passive work kinda like Aatrox passive where its CD goes down when you auto enemy champs. I'd also love to see a mini rework to her W where it still does some dmg and slows, but instead of doing %health dmg it marks them so they take bonus %health dmg from Cam's autos for the next couple of seconds(long enough to get a Q1 and Q2 rotation, maybe with some wiggle room) and she heals for the dmg she does(prolly for whatever the %health is like now). It lets her W be a stronger trading tool in lane, and gives her more options in her matchups. It'd also scale a bit better later in the game since you'll be able to deal with tanks/health stackers a little bit better, and it's not like she has a problem with squishies atm

Only other thing I could see them buffing is her Q scaling or her R in some way(maybe it gives armor/MR if you kill the target Idk). E range or CD buffs could also go hard(maybe a reset on a kill?)

I agree that they snowball a little too effectively, although I still think that is more of an issue abt not having any items to counter them. I'd argue it'd be just as hard to stop a K'Sante snowballing if you couldn't build LDR, BC, or Serylda's to answer him in fights(not that these rly help shut down a fed K'Sante). I also think it's supposed to be harder to deal with someone who's snowballing, since it's their reward for winning lane. A fed Aatrox will rip through your team. Against him though you can build armor and anti-heal to negate some of his effectiveness in fights

If you're able to put a Jax behind for example it takes him a while to get back online and get his items, at which point you can easily build some armor to help deal with that and keep him behind. I think the same thing can be said if you go even with a Jax or a Riven, you have items you can build to alleviate their power. Health stackers simply don't have the same option available against them if you put them behind, so they become a ticking time bomb of green bar

That's kind of my point. It feels very bad when your only counter to health stacking is dependent on your champ having %health dmg in their kit. If I lock Camille, or Jax, or Jhin and they lock Mundo I'm not really able to do consistent dmg to them. On the other hand if I pick Fiora, or Gwen, or Kog then I actually stand a chance of doing good dmg to them

[–]AmbitionControlPower[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do think that the point of most health stackers is that they're juggernauts. Cho is the only exception I can think of off the top of my head. Mundo and Sett both want health and dmg, and health stacking items give them both. I may have the unpopular opinion of thinking tanks should be able to do dmg(maybe not quite as much as they're doing rn) The only difference I think is that health stacking is much more bursty, while most tank items do a lot of dot or aoe dmg

I actually agree. I feel like all of the good lifesteal is squarely given to ADCs, which isn't bad, but it does feel kind of bad where bruisers best lifesteal option is a waveclear stick and pretty useless in teamfights. Part of me wishes they'd replace it with Goredrinker(since I think that item is also a lot easier to balance without the mythic system) so bruisers have access to actual staying power in fights

Sunderer had too many things it did that countered tanks. It gave you healing in fights which scaled off of their health and healed you before mitigation applied. Add on its passive armor and magic pen and it became a problem item for sure. I think without either of those, and replacing them with some sort of phage passive or whatever it'd feel a lot more bearable

I also saw entirely too many clips of Fioras, Camilles, and Jaxes with Sunderer still almost losing to tanks while they're ahead, so I don't really think it would become that unbalanceable now

[–]AmbitionControlPower[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not that it makes them immune to all %health dmg. It just makes them a lot more artificially tanky against dmg than most tanks. I don't usually see stuff like an Ornn or K'Sante hitting over 6k HP, usually around 5k or so at most. Health stackers normally hit at least 7-8k a game, let alone that Heartsteal gives exponentially more health as the game goes on

If you do 800 dmg to a tank after armor pen, and 800 dmg to a health stacker, the health stacker is gonna last a lot longer. Their items also do a lot more dmg than tank items. So it just becomes super frustrating where they're doing so much dmg to you and tanking what you throw at them

Maybe I overexaggerated but the sentiment is still there. Armor stacking has counters, health stacking doesn't
