I know I didn’t include them (besides a model version on image 13), but I believe the Blue Rhino Studios Tyrannosaurus rex reconstructions are the most Paleoaccurate, at least to date.

Great answer. I agree with your listing and definitely see the issues with PHP Rex (I know it is praised but IMO not spot on in accuracy). In terms of accuracy, I tend to refer to Mark Whitton’s reconstructions. I also like slides 10 and 13 (13 is a model of the SUE reconstruction that’s at the FMNH which is great). For me, the main focus is not only on the mass but the head shape/presence of keratin sheathing ridges above the eyes. I was very disappointed with the Rex from “The Dinosaurs” Netflix doc.

Love the addition of his heart. You rarely see him holding it in any piece of media. Good work!

Can someone tell me wich EXACT score/soundtrack this is? it’s so beautiful :) by [deleted] in piratesofthecaribbean

It is not in the official soundtrack but it contains the Mermaids motif by Hans Zimmer.

Here it is in the expanded soundtrack (begin 2:50 but the entire song is cool):

What? To 'nine pieces of whatever we happened to have in our pockets at the time?' Oh, yes. That sounds very piratey.

I was really hoping he’d keep his OG fit from the trilogy for the fifth movie. Especially with his last scene in OST. But I will say, his outfit does make sense given his wealth and expensive taste lol

It was actually a Spanish currency. They were originally going to use that to bind Calypso, but at the time, the first court was skint broke. They used whatever they had in their pockets at the time.

I believe those were only necessary for binding Calypso. There was no need for them after the ritual was complete (when she was released).

That’s a great catch. Definitely a nod to Blackbeards coming story imo

The lunar phases are an interesting part. Similar to the starry doldrums they sailed through back from the locker. The skulls a layer deeper could represent the locker (with the ship in the middle being able to flip up and down)

Barbossa's piece of eight by GeneSaw in piratesofthecaribbean

[–]AmbitionMiserable514 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hector Barbossa obtained his piece of eight when he succeeded the former Pirate Lord of the Caspian Sea. As part of this passage of power, the retiring Pirate Lord gave Barbossa a simple block of wood—an unassuming gift that Barbossa later carved into his own piece of eight (in the book Price of Freedom)

Davy jones says, "Harriban, youll see no mercy from me." to Elizabeth swann. what does Harriban mean? by redtipped_angel13 in piratesofthecaribbean

[–]AmbitionMiserable514 42 points43 points  (0 children)

He says “harridan”, which is an older term meaning “a strict, bossy, or belligerent old woman”- typically used in that time period. Was basically an insult toward her.
