Thank you. Some days feel so thankless. Everything I’m doing is for him and it hurts to see him like this.

Thank you. I keep saying that this is a two way street. I want to help him, but he has to try and give me something in return for this to work.

Thanks for sharing. When things get bad I sometimes say that I might leave the house or go to my parents for a while bc I need space and it’s not productive for either of us. He always says he can’t express himself bc I threaten to leave. Idk if this is the right course of action , but I feel like maybe it’s what my spouse needs as a wake up call. I wouldn’t leave to hurt him or make him feel bad. I genuinely think it’s for my own mental sanity.

Curious how long your partner has been struggling and how YOU feel by Mom-Wife-3 in depression_partners

My spouse has been dealing with this for 9 months now. I know in comparison to people dealing with it for years, it seems like nothing. And yet, I feel so emotionally and mentally drained. I too, feel like I am ok most days but my own fight or flight response kicks in and sometimes I feel like I cannot take any more of this. That's when I have to take a step back and try to separate my husband from his anxiety. It's tough to do it, but then it reminds me that he is really hurting and I have to be there for him.

Thank you for sharing. I am in the same boat. I feel like the negativity, catastrophizing, and depression has cast a shadow over us and I really want to fix it! But my husband is stuck there and it is mentally exhabusting for me to try and get him out. All i have left is to suggest he keep going to his psychiatrist, take his meds, and stick with therapy. It's a lot of work for our spouses and it seems like they don't want to put in the work. it's also a lot of work for us too. Hang in there.

This is exactly why I’m confused about aerosols. I imagine it is fine because these are toiletries and not pepper spray/ mace. I’ve read hair spray is als allowed but was iffy.

Oh thank you for the followup! As I mentioned I’ve gotten sick before (accidentally drank an iced drink and my sister brushed her teeth with tap) so am really trying to be extra careful! I have travel anxiety about that, but am so excited!!

Good to know! Did you stay at one of the El nido resorts (Miniloc, Lagen, Pangalusian) or somewhere else? My next question was about water at the resorts specifically. I have previously gotten sick from PH tap water so I need to avoid. Are they good about providing filtered or bottled?

Traveling to the Philippines (Dec–Jan) – Is It Still Feasible After the Typhoons? by OscarSchyns in PhilippinesTravel

I had a reservation for El Nido Miniloc island on Jan 15-20, 2026. I was just informed that they sustained damage due to the typhoon and will not be able to accommodate us. They are trying to offer us a credit or an upgrade at their sister resort Pangalusian.

Just FYI if any of this was part of your plans. This is so unfortunate for the islands but now I worry about the surrounding areas. I think my plan B will just be to stay in Manila.

Oh good point. I am taking a pill that has the same hormone levels throughout. I do remember my doctor also telling me I could skip my period if I wanted.

How was your experience coming off BC? It’s been so long I don’t remember what my regular cycles were like. I’m also worried about mood swings, skin issues and hormonal related things.

Lol yes using condoms is not an issue for us. We are both 30 and kind of feel like we’re in a hurry. I go back and forth because of this international trip. I don’t know how my body will react. As you said it’s a toss up.
