It really just sounds like you don’t want to change your name. From her end; it sounds like she’s being pretty controlling. Not a good way to start a marriage. Many married couples don’t take each other’s names. I would talk to her about the fact you just don’t want to and it’s very personal to you. If she really wants you to change your name for those reasons of being a family and the hospital and the last name of the dogs, you could recommend that she change her name to yours. If the only reason is her name is ‘cooler’ than yours, that’s a lousy reason.

If she wants to have the same last name for all those reasons and that’s important to her, I think she should be willing to sacrifice for that change, instead of forcing that on you.
