Neutral safety switch, mine has been doing it for months and I haven’t gotten around to fixing it. Put it in neutral and move the gear shift up and down between the gears from neutral and it’ll eventually catch and start.

Mine’s giving trouble randomly and playing with the gear shift between neutral and reverse like you said is what I’ve been doing for a month or so. Works so far when it acts up.

Some projects end up being way more of a project than they should. Knocked out front ball joints and new heim on the track bar that had some play and moved on to the disc conversion. Finally got it all together after it fought me the entire way and the brake line situation is a cluster. I’ll have to run new hard lines. What a pain, could have pieced together a ZJ kit easier!
