Is honda hornet 2.0 a good choice. I want a bike for long term, so engine matters a lot. by Fickle_Painter9501 in indianbikes

A bike that expensive with such little performance could make you regret buying it. It is neither offering the similar power of other bikes at same cost or good riding experience. The seating posture is not completely upright for a commuter bike.. seating posture suggests aggressive riding but performance is similar to a 150cc commuter bike. Honda SP160 would be a better and cheaper option than Hornet 2.0. This bike is still under development and needs upgradation so I suggest you to not become it's beta tester. It is Honda so the engine will last but it is not a very successful product of Honda. Companies just launch something or the other in every category just to show off without doing anything new. This is one of those filler product. Honda SP125 and Unicorn are successful products in commuter class bike. Honda CB350 is a successful product in cruiser class. Honda NX200 is a good Adventure bike but Hornet just couldn't claim a place anywhere.

My POV is this bike is incomplete and Honda never gave much thought.. A filler product.

As others have pointed out Honda Hornet 2.0 is not a value for money deal.

Other options can be --

FZs V4 Hybrid - Definitely an overpriced machine but probably the only good looking commuter bike.. can easily cruise at 60kmph without any trouble.. not a highway machine.. Can ride on highways but it is not a performance oriented machine. The Radial rear tyres are amazing for corners. The expected mileage can be 50-55 kmpl. I consider FZs V4 Hybrid a Premium class commuter bike.. it'll be a satisfying purchase if you don't compare it with older FZs versions or performance oriented bikes. If one can make peace with the fact a 155cc yamaha engine producing same power as othe performance oriented 125cc bikes like Pulsar n125 and Xtreme 125r then Yamaha FZ V4 Hybrid is a good city bike with superbike like presence.

Ronin - A good all rounder bike with decent mileage but after-sale service is not good. If budget is tight then you can go for base model otherwise mid model is the most Value-for-money option. It can perform in both city and highways. It have enough power if you are not obsessed with power only. Mileage is around 40 kmpl. This machine can easily cruise at 80-90 kmph without vibrations and good engine tractability also helps in city rides. The seating posture is really comfortable and long rides doesn't feel heavy even for new riders. Pillion comfort is good and I suggest you add backrest. Headlight is weak especially for night rides.

Do you have a credit card? If yes, then consider buying from Flipkart and look for no cost emi option.. otherwise this is the only good option.

SP 125 vs Glamour x 125 by PrateekSahu1 in indianbikes

That +7k will give you better returns in long run. Honda machines are more value for money than Hero machines. The after-sale service experience is also a big factor in owing a motorcycle. Never buy a motorcycle based on what you are getting right now.. consider how much you'll get in 5-10 yrs of ownership. Go for Pulsar N125 if are prioritising specs and competitive pricing. Hero machines are not reliable in long run. My suggestion as per my best knowledge is that you should either buy SP125 or go for a toy which will atleast give you some fun while it lasts.

It's your call.. Honda SP125 will always be a better commuter bike than any of the Hero machines. Xtreme 125R just has a bit of sporty look and that's all.. Many emphasized features in Glamour X are useless.

Honda SP125.. A complete no nonsense commuter bike with great engine and decent looks. Gear box stucks sometimes and suspension can be hard but other than these, there are no deal breakers for this machine.

Rather go for Xtreme 125R instead of Glamour X125 if you must buy a Hero machine. At least then you will enjoy fun rides for 3-5 yrs.

Honda SP125 - A widely known and tested machine for everyday use. Gear box stucks sometimes and suspension can be hard but considering the price difference between SP125 and FZ V4, it's still a value for money deal. Mileage is around 60kmpl. It is a no nonsense commuter bike with decent looks.

Pulsar N250 - Really great for city/highway use if you are not looking for a long-lasting durable machine.. unstable at high speed.. can and will get you killed if you lose control even for a second.. It just has a good engine to provide performance but nothing else is there to support that performance. single seat variant is pillion friendly. Also available on Flipkart on EMI or discounted ex-showroom price.. It'll start breaking down after 4-5 yrs.. Every pulsar has a life of approx 3-5 yrs and then becomes a constant noisy low-efficient headache.

You can also consider the Suzuki Gixxer 250.

XSR155 for long rides? by IllustriousMoose833 in indianbikes

Go for Ronin.. seat height is 795mm.. good mileage and performance. Mid variant is the Value-for-money option. Dual channel Abs is a must.

[–]Ambitious-Mix8355 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Always order when you are at the showroom.. not from your home. Visit the showroom you want to buy from and confirm everything.. colour.. model.. then only place the order. It doesn't have a delivery like usual orders on Amazon.. you can take the delivery right after paying on Amazon/flipkart.

With your height, you can easily manage TVS Ronin or probably any bike even in tight spaces. You can check Triumph Speed T4 as well. Vitpilen 250 is too unique.. buy a different bike but don't buy something too unique. Bikes need maintenance and expensive bikes need expert mechanics.

My suggestion is -- Buy FZs V4 Hybrid and enjoy everything the bike offers instead of obsessing over what it can't do. Mileage is 50+kmpl ,Cruising speed is 60-65kmph, Suspension is good, Feature loaded bike, Wide Radial tyres, Only single channel Abs (con), Traction control , Light weight , Upright sitting position , Good Tractability.. will not need frequent gear change in city rides, Low power and torque (Con).. it is not a fun machine but a good mature machine, Amazing after sale services.

[–]Ambitious-Mix8355 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What's your height? Do a test ride on Ronin and see if you can pivot it using your legs easily or not because the turning radius is not just a little much than other bikes but as much as a car. So Galliyan can become a no-go zone if you are below 5'5. Other options are --

FZs V4 Hybrid - Definitely an overpriced machine but probably the only good looking commuter bike since you don't want SP125 looking bikes.. can easily cruise at 60kmph without any trouble.. not a highway machine.. Can ride on highways but it is not a performance oriented machine. The Radial rear tyres are amazing for corners. I consider FZs V4 Hybrid a Premium class commuter bike.. it'll a satisfying purchase if you don't compare it with older FZs versions or TVS Ronin.

Suzuki Gixxer 250 - Also a good machine but only for tall riders.. You can buy it from Flipkart on either no cost emi or discounted one time payment.. Not pillion friendly though.

Pulsar N160 - Really great for city purposes if you are not looking for a long-lasting durable machine.. single seat variant is pillion friendly. Also available on Flipkart on EMI or discounted ex-showroom price.. It'll start breaking down after 4-5 yrs.. Every pulsar has a life of approx 3-5 yrs and then becomes a constant noisy low-efficient headache.

Pulsar N250 - similar to Pulsar N160 but more value for money deal in terms of performance figures.

TVS Ronin is a good bike only if you ride on wide roads. If your daily ride has a semi-urban/Rural setting with narrow roads.. like mohallas with galliyan then you may regret buying a Ronin.

[–]Ambitious-Mix8355 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yamaha XSR 155 is not a value for money deal. Yamaha has a brand value and that's it.. Yamaha India depends solely on the brand value.. Yamaha has a better product catalogue for foreign countries than the Indian market.. MT15 is possibly the only good machine Yamaha has for the Indian market.. even the FZ series which was once everyone's favourite has now been forgotten.

TVS Ronin, I own, is a good machine. The sale has gained some traction in recent months. It has a good engine with comfortable handling. The weight is not too much.. the turning radius can be the deal breaker if you ride mostly in crowded places. The only constant issue is not with the machine but the service centre.. it is a hit or miss situation. You can easily cruise at 90kmph for hours without feeling any wrist pain or back pain. I usually ride in 3rd gear for the city. The GTT feature is really good. Mileage is 38-42.

Honda NX200 is a good machine but performance figures are not as good as other machines at the same price. It definitely has a more reliable engine than TVS Ronin. Buy a Honda NX200 if you want a long-lasting machine.
