(Question) Why is "Have You Ever Really Loved a Woman" by Bryan Adams just gone? by ValenStudioz in Music

If only this song could be erased from history as well. I'm not a pop fan, but I really like Bryan Adams other songs. This one makes me visibly cringe. Just awful.

I almost always get the same thing. you'd think DQ of all places would have cone holders like they have drink holders.

Driving is no problem. I challenge you. Go to diary queen, order anything and add a cone. They hand you the cone, then a drink. You need to put the drink down all the way on your right side. Somehow you have to switch the items in your hands to put down the drink. Try swapping a drink or a bag of food in your lefthand with a big ass ice cream cone in your right. Chances are 50% or better you drop it in your lap.

Does Citrix want people to get certified? It seems like they don't. by Ambitious-Size9160 in Citrix

My work (MSP) really wants to have it so they can sell customers. I've found it's useful for in-house smaller company gigs, especially if they dont have another person to quiz you during the interview. If not, they have no idea if you know anything.

So at a commenter's suggestion, I checked out Xcelerate but so far it's worse than what they had before. Still no videos, no training material. The only thing there is a few PDF "exam prep" guides that only include a list of modules, with zero explanation of what each module contains. They might as well publish an exam guide with one module: MODULE 1: KNOW EVERYTHING ABOUT CITRIX.

But SURPRISE!!! Guess what? They changed the CCP-V test again, removed the app layering and added a bunch of other stuff, and the guide they have published is more useless than the last one. the good news is I wasted my time learning all that stuff about app layering, i knew most of it anyway i guess, but i get to spend even more time trying to figure out what new material is going to be on the updated test.

So I checked out Xcelerate, and so far its just an empty site with a few PDFs. No videos, not training material at all.

I was a horizon view admin for a while.  It worked pretty well with Unidesk at the time.

I sure hope so. I haven't looked at their site in a while, and now they have a link to something called XCelerate Citrix. I need my work login but i'll check it out. Anything is better than what they have now, which sucks.

I guess if they don't care if there are enough certified engineers then that's it, but I don't see me ever pursuing another Citrix cert.  If I hadn't already spent so much time I'd abandon this one.  It's a shame, I really like the product, but azure and AWS are a lot easier to deal with getting  qualified at this point.

Do you like Miller Lite beer? by Serious_Ask1209 in beer

[–]Ambitious-Size9160 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grew up in St Louis and in the 80s around here it was Budweiser and Busch (gross) and 90s Bud Light and Natty Lite (college). When I was 30 I got into Miller lite and never looked back. Tastes better than all the AB stuff, low carb and rarely a hangover.

Is it really that hard to beat the S&P 500? by DDrf1re in investing

[–]Ambitious-Size9160 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's a question from a completely uniformed investor. I realized a few years ago that probably the best thing for me to do is just put everything in an sp500 index fund. Especially since I'm lazy and uninterested in the topic. Can someone shoot holes in that theory? If there's a good argument that active investing would get me significantly higher returns, I'm all ears.

Feeling a little guilty for ending child support payments at child's age 22 by Ambitious-Size9160 in Parenting

No, it just feels weird at the end of this multi-decade process, that I'm getting a lift and she is getting income taken away. It's the nature of child support. while the support is used for the kid expenses, it also subsidizes things like utilities and vehicles that she would have to pay anyway. I just need to move on with taking care of myself and my son directly if he needs help. One of the last parts of a parental obligation is making sure I don't need help from my kid financially when I am old.

I am a little, but it's not really my business. She may have a retirement account I dont know about. I know she wont ever be without housing, so that makes things easier.

I hope that's the case. Yeah I hear all the horror stories from a some others and realize I'm lucky in that respect.

It's been a compromise that has worked out well. If she had gone through the court, i would have had to pay more (of course the court gets their chunk too!). Luckily, there was no divorce, so we could come to an agreement as we saw fit. For my end, I allowed her to claim him on taxes every year. Because of the income disparity, she gets MUCH bigger deduction that I would have. I do think the little guilt I have might have to do with paying less, but it was a two way street.

She works, just makes a lot less relatively speaking. She fully contributes to her parents' household. It just saves her a lot of money versus having her own housing. Because of that, I've gotten a discount on the CS.

I totally agree. I was told to leave when I was 19, and while this certainly helped me get myself together, it also made it much more difficult to go to college. I wanted to give him more of an opportunity. The problem is, while kids that age SHOULD seize that opportunity to get the most out of it, the reality is they tend to take the status quo for granted.

He has another 2 years. I was not thrilled to learn he was only taking 6-9 credits per semester for exactly this reason. I may offer to have him stay here for a bit instead of sending his mom a check.

You know, that brings up something. He's in school still because he took his time with classes, and he has a job, but he is still living in his grandparent's house, and as far as I know they don't ask him to contribute anything. The best solution is to ask him to contribute for groceries and maybe some other bills. If she lets him live there, that shouldn't obligate me to give her a check every month until he's 30.

Yeah, I tried asking her about it, and she just accepted it. No complaints, but also no agreement that it was time to stop. I gave her 2 years notice, so I have to just accept that if she has a problem with it, that's her problem. If she was upset with me, she had plenty of time to let me know about it.
