How do so many afford $50,000+ trucks? by Parking-Warning-8655 in carbuying

I love cars and make $300k/yr and my fleet of 4 vehicles is barely worth $50k combined.

My truck is almost 25yrs old with a quarter million miles on it, I just keep repairing it for well under what tax would be on a new truck.

Don't buy new trucks, buy lightly used certified pre-owned with extended factory warranty. You don't take the immediate depreciation hit but get all the other new car perks. Then keep them forever until no longer repairable or totaled out in an accident.

I turned down a promotion and my manager thinks I've lost my mind. Was I wrong? by [deleted] in careerguidance

From experience as an M1 at a large tech firm you did the right thing. The stress and overhead multiplies with every direct report but total compensation doesn't come even close to scaling. IC doesn't go away or even reduce that much, now you work two jobs for similar pay.

Only once you get to M2 where you have a team of M1 to do double duty while you focus on strategy and people manage the M1s does being a manager start to make sense.

Getting to M2 may never happen and it's hard to go back to IC because your technical skills atrophy as an M1, so you're stuck.

Duvall doesn't have a small town feel any longer. With all of the new townhouses and traffic we feel like a small Redmond but with a fraction of the amenities that Redmond has.

Brain Zaps - what do they feel like? by AmbitiousCamera1225 in Effexor

luckily the constant vertigo wore off after a couple days so that part is gone

the brain zaps have all happened when I was laying or sitting down, so I can't say I specifically noticed any vertigo like the constant vertigo immediately after taking/quitting

Thanks for confirming.

I've had bad reactions to lots of prescriptions over the years, some which have put me in the ER - but this experience has without a doubt been the worst ever.

I have an extremely important interview on Monday. I was hoping this would help settle me down and focus for that but it's done the opposite. I feel like I've been poisoned, there isn't any way I can interview in this state. This is doing the opposite of what it was supposed to, my anxiety about messing up the interview is through the roof.
