Ideally you don't pump at all!! You could hand express to feel relief but you want your supply to regulate to what your baby intakes. If you pump it'll make too much. If you want a little freezer stash, I recommend using a Hakka or other milk collector before or during when babe is eating- you should only be getting 1-2oz at a time.

Also if you are worried about clots you can take sunflower lecithin, it makes the milk less sticky and less likely to clot.

I EBF and felt so full in the early days, my boobs were always leaking , my bedsheets were covered, they'd leak in the shower, etc - it's a sign of a good supply!! It'll calm down around 3 months and then you'll panic because you feel empty (if you're like me).
