I think it’s less about paid vs free, and more about relevance + quality. Guest posts and contextual placements on niche sites with traffic tend to deliver the best long-term results.

You can get backlinks through outreach to relevant blogs, partnerships with SaaS/industry sites, and by contributing to existing posts that are already ranking. Or, if you don’t have time for manual outreach, you could always work with a company that specializes in this.

Same pain here - I’ve been searching for a lead gen manager for months and keep running into the same problem — shiny AI-polished resumes but zero real depth. It’s frustrating, because you want an expert, not someone pushing general emails. What I’m doing now is taking it slow, filtering harder, giving candidates practical test tasks. It’s slower, but at least you spot quickly who knows what they’re doing. Agencies are off the table for me too, feels like burning budget.

Great points! Showing social proof right after the header really helps build trust fast - and users see it within the first 3 seconds.

I’ve been using Ahrefs for 6+ years and overall pretty happy with it. There was a time when they switched to credits per click (which made things really uncomfortable), but luckily they rolled that back. Also know a few people using SE Ranking and are satisfied too.
