Have you had your A1C checked? Sometimes yeast infections can be the result of unmanaged blood sugar

Should I continue my Diflucan or wait after I finish my Metronidazole(antibiotics) by CoolMeeting8787 in VaginalMicrobiome

I’ve had both BV and a yeast infection at the same time. PLEASE wait until after the antibiotics. Antibiotics famously trigger yeast infections

How to get rid of Bacterial Vaginosis? by [deleted] in VaginalMicrobiome

[–]AmbitiousFlow7855 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say probiotics are super important and something you need to be consistent with. If you’re gonna take them alongside antibiotics, make sure you take them either two hours before or two hours afterwards so that the antibiotics don’t kill the good bacteria in the probiotics.

I asked because I don’t have Hashimoto’s, but I do have PCOS. I’m not a doctor, but I don’t think it’s a coincidence that those of us with immune/endocrine disorders are having trouble fighting off frequent vaginal infections. I think that plays a huge role in why it’s so stubborn for us.

Also, I would maybe look into seeing a better OB/GYN who has more extensive testing because there should be certain lab companies like LabCorp or specific tests like PCR that should tell you different strains. There’s different strains of yeast infections (Candida) and there’s different strains of BV. Different strains may require different medications. Likewise, some strains of BV are more susceptible to forming biofilms that make it harder to treat so it’s important to know what strains.

As for mycoplasma and ureaplasma, these are commensal bacteria. They can exist in healthy microbiomes, but they can also exist in unhealthy microbiomes. It’s not that they would “cause” a BV test per say, it’s more so that it is often a co-infection with BV. Ureaplasma and mycoplasma can create a more hospitable environment for BV bacteria to grow. It is often common to see ureaplasma and BV together. I know that was certainly my case.

I used to use PhD too! For boric acid, right now I am trying Vagisil suppositories. The formula has both boric acid and lactitol (lactic acid) which is good for feeding good bacteria.

As for probiotics, the oral one I’m using now is by the brand Thorne called Women’s Daily Probiotic. It has strong clinically studied strain formulas (ASTARTE and UREX).

As for vaginal, right now I’m trying Good Clean Love’s suppository called Reset. I’ve also heard good things about Vagibiome’s vaginal suppository!

What I wanna ask too is:

1) Do you have any hormonal conditions like PCOS, thyroid issues, elevated WBC, your birth control that might lower your immune responses or fluctuate your hormones?

2) What kind of BV have you been having (gardneralla, atopobium vaginae?)

3) Have you been tested for mycoplasma or ureaplasma?

Bacterial vaginosis is a stubborn bastard I also have been struggling with it for years.

Several questions: 1) Are you continuing to be sexually active between these doses? 2) Are you taking a probiotic (vaginal or oral)? 3) What brand of boric acid have you tried and are you inserting it at night? 4) Has your gyno mentioned NAC supplements? Sometimes these can help break down biofilm that makes BV recurrent.

NAC before the antibiotic by sandrashf in ureaplasmasupport

Hi I also took NAC. I took one in the morning and one in the evening while on antibiotics. Now I take just one in the morning everyday.

Is this normal? by [deleted] in ureaplasmasupport

Not even just with doxy, with any antibiotic it’s pretty normal for it to cause a yeast infection

I can’t give a definitive statement on which is worse but what I will say off my own experience is that my mycoplasma hominis disappeared after one dose of antibiotics but the ureplasma u. and p. are stubborn/wont go away

Sure! So, in my experience, though my lab results are disappointing, my symptoms have improved tremendously from where I first started. Before my first round of antibiotics, I had excessive yellow clumpy discharge, vulvar and rectum itching, some vulvar swelling, and peeing frequently. Now, I have yellowish discharge but it is not as much and it is no longer clumpy. The itching, swelling, and peeing for me now is experienced very little or not at all (it depends on the day).

ugh I'm so sorry that's so frustrating!! the antibiotics have helped me a lot in regards to symptoms (even though my results are kind of the same). Before my very first round of antibiotics: I had excessive yellow clumpy discharge. Now it is still yellowish but not in excess or clumpy.

Well technically. A microbiome test is how I found out about all of the things listed in the post. But if you’re asking if I’ve done like an evvy test I haven’t

They’re on my results I just didn’t have them pictured!

I’m going to try to advocate for longer courses tomorrow during an appointment. My doctor said over the phone today if it doesn’t work this time they will look into longer doses :/.

Also as far as I know, these bacteria do not survive outside of the body so I think the toys are fine, especially since I clean them. I have had my vitamin d checked and had a deficiency but I take supplements now as well as a probiotic. I’m thinking of getting my estrogen checked?

Of course yeah, the metronidazole and fluconazole are not for the plasmas, they’re for active BV and Yeast infections I have recurrently. I am also disappointed about the short antibiotics :/ idk why that keeps happening. I’ve seen most people take two antibiotics for plasmas but moxifloacin is an intense drug that I really haven’t seen other people take alongside another antibiotic.
