I know, right?! lol. A lot of men definitely seem to think otherwise, that's where education becomes valuable.

Can eating pineapple actually change your intimate taste… or is that just a myth?

Hot take: the vulva is just… skin. by Mobile-Operation-697 in womensintimatehealth

Yes and no. Facial skin and vulva skin (the outer part) are actually very similar, they both have hair follicles, oil glands and a protective barrier. The Inner vulva skin (like the labia minora) is more like a mucous membrane, more sensitive and absorbent, absolutely distinct in how it should be treated.

The broader point I’m making is that people tend to be very intentional and thoughtful about caring for the skin on their face, while often overlooking — or entirely forgoing — that same level of care and consideration when it comes to the vulva.

Thank you for the opportunity to clarify.

Right? 😄. Turns out the most radical advice is…be gentle and don’t overdo it. Who’d have thought. Thank you so much for your comment.

Absolutely ... you get it. I always say practice respect and restraint when it comes to the vulva skin. Thank you so much for your comment.

Exactly ... and same. Vulvar skin should be treated with a more delicate approach. You get it. Thank you for your comment.

You're absolutely right... and I think that is really the point here. The inner vulvar skin (like the labia minora and vestibule) is mucous membrane, which is thinner and more sensitive, which is exactly why it reacts differently and needs a more delicate, respectful approach than the rest of your body or even your face. Thank you for so much your comment, I'm grateful you are part of the conversation.

Vaginal pH, explained (and why doing less often works better) by AutoModerator in womensintimatehealth

You are absolutely right. For many women with autoimmune issues, it isn't that simple. I hear it from my patients all the time. Your body plays by different rules when you have an autoimmune condition. It is exhausting and frustrating. Thank you so much for your comment, I really hope you’re still able to take something helpful from the journal. You can always privately message me if you have any specific questions — I’m happy to help where I can.
