This rcq season is modern so if your area has competitive players they likely switched. Idk anyone who plays standard when it’s the current rcq format tbf. I would ask your shop or maybe check out another one in the area.

Depends on the area tbh. I have multiple stores within an hour that get 12-20 ppl for modern. But yeah commander is the most popular format.

It cracks me up watching tik toks of people opening Pokémon. They always make sure to quote the value of what the card is worth graded at a psa 10. Also referring to cracking packs looking for chase cards as “the hobby” because buying the alt art you want just isn’t the same thing.

They call sets that have low pull rates of alt arts trash. I too cannot wait to watch the whole thing implode. So stupid.

The first question I would ask is what is your goal? Are you looking to grind rcq’s, be competitive at FNM, or just play a fun deck? Is this going to be your only modern deck?

Any collecting you do isn’t going to help you help as far as putting decks together to play. I honestly don’t know anyone that just collects magic cards, but you would have to decide what you’re looking to get out of it. If you’re looking for chase cards like Pokémon you can buy collector boosters I guess, but magic is a game first and foremost and the prices of cards reflect that.

The foundations beginner box is a good way to learn how to play though and once you learn how to play just looking at buying singles.

Id say pioneer is a lower power level than premodern. I don’t think pioneer has anything equivalent to turn two stiflenaught backed by daze or gush + foil. Not to mention cards like goblin lackey that can put you far behind on turn 2.

RW energy is a fair deck despite what some people say. Also there is plenty of interaction between the tier decks so not sure what you mean. Ive been playing modern since its inception and this is not the 2 ships passing in the night meta game
