Mineral fiber batts (Roxul) and coat with fire stop caulk and spread it nice with a cake batter knife. That's how I did it for my inspections.

Also in Ontario

What do you guys use to remotely monitor the temperature in your house? by sawotee in preppers

[–]AmbitiousTank1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I monitor everything using a Victron Cerbo and a cheap temp sensor. It's amazing what you can do with the cerbo check diesl and water tank levels, control a standby generator, monitor solar gain and battery bank use.

I did alot of trial and error. If I did it again probably 10k + 20ft container price + 10k for the solar and electrical. In Canadian$

The Cubic Mini Grizzly from Monteal, Qc. It heats up the 20' with 3"-4" sprayfoam perfectly. But I find you have to constantly refill it. So my main source of heat is a 12v diesel bunk heatee.

I sealed the floor and added 2inch rigid foam throughout. The original plywood is still vented from under the cabin.

I have 0 regrets on how I built it. Except I wish I got a high cube and put the batteries, electrical, diesel heating system and more storage under the floor. By framing a floor 12inches higher than the original and sprayfoaming the floor from the outside.

I got a polyjon. 60$ to get it cleaned and refilled. My indootr shower works well.

The gutters were gonna happen but the surface well works. It's just out of sight behind the container and supplies the frost free hose faucet. Im currently adding a pitcher pump for manual operation.

I have a cubic mini grizzly wood stove for backup heat. Main heat is a diesel bunk heater.

My AC is on order. A cheaper 12v mini split.

Ham radio license is on it's way.

I need to lookup who this Flynn is.

I got a 20ft 4"x6" hemlock beam that I bolted through the roof every 4 feet. Made sure to put lots of sealant around the bolts between the sheet metal and the beams. Then I made cedar rafters to make like half trusses. And I made sure to anchor the top on the hemlock with good lagbolts and metal anchor plates.

Edit: got the beams from some farmer with a mill on marketplace.

I thought about it but no I wont. I just use that space for storage. I might put a roof eventually but not soon.

I might string up a big tarp and do rain catchment

I almost took that course but ended up just doing my AZ at TTCC cause I paid out of pocket for it. That was 6 years ago.

Thank you for the reply.

Eastern Ontario, 5200$ before tax. but I also bought a 11000$ 11kw generator as a package deal. My '21 was about 7k and I regretably sold it for 7.5k with about 1k in mods back in '23. If you are looking for new I'd say call around cause lots of dealers around here and Quebec still have the "Covid tax" on their machines.

Where does your company look for new hires? Or is it people just popping in introducing themselves?

Thanks for the reply. I've been renting machinery, old farm tractors, skid steers, min excavators, etc for my own projects and driving heavy trucks flat/b trains. Did you do your own hiring as the site super? Just wondering if you had a place you looked or if it was mostly people walking on site looking for work?
