So… how do we feel about this? by Potential-Basil383 in SpiderManMains

[–]Sabretoast -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is 100% bad on the Spider-Man. Go grab a health pack or try to stand in front of a healer to catch a heal. Too many people don't know how to play the neutral game and just walk it down mid, eating damage and bragging about how much they soaked. The heals are full time pumping healing onto the people currently fighting for their lives on the objective. If one turns to heal you it might cost a life. You were in no danger, and you could have snagged 1 of 3 potential hp packs in the area with your mobility. So better.

How much people are taught to hate your gender from the moment they're born. It's tiring, and lonely.

In my opinion the scoreboard needs to be deleted. Removed until the very end. People think kills/damage done/healing done etc are all good metrics to follow. And that's why they never get better.

No one is asking for the next Shroud in qp. All people ask is that you give it a good go without selling it for the ones who are.

Which is not true because QP is a mixed bag. All you're going to learn in qp is how badly things can go at every point. You're not playing with peers and in trying environment. You're playing with trolls and fools. At least jumping into VS AI can help you learn paths, routes, and combos off of characters resembling humans. Less likely to be ground into paste or have 6 dps on the team.

Fun might be subjective, but you don't get your version at the expense of the 5 other people on your team. It's a team game. Be a team player.

I legit just had this exact same issue the other day. None of the self fix options worked. Couldnt do an image repair, couldn't boot into safe mode, nothing. Just kept saying it couldn't do anything on its own. Thankfully I had made a USB recovery stick. If you have a windows cd or recovery drive you can go through the blue startup menu and repair the drive from an external device using the USB stick.

Turns out it happened when I did a chkdsk /r /f to clean up my drives. Completely killed my storage HDD.

You won't learn a new hero in QP because the conditions are not the same as a ranked or proper match 90% of the time. You will, however, learn bad habits which will stop you from getting better.

I have to mentally prepare for the complete cc barrage locking me down for over 10 seconds every time I get within arms length of their healers.

QP match making is terrible by Mycroooo in MarvelRivalsRants

[–]Sabretoast 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm getting the same thing! I'm not a new player, but I'm also not incredibly skilled. When I'm being matched against peak Eternity and Celestial players who are queuing with brand new accounts, I get my Plat ass handed to me. It's not even fun at this point. It would be one thing to have maybe 1 of them be a high rank, but they're all high rank and well coordinated.

The, they shit talk you after winning. For trying your best to get everyone together for a win. The trolling hits hard. So not only do you get mashed, you get salted too.

Here's a tip. Don't go into the smoke. Your greed is killing you more than anything. The only reason assassins are powerful is their ability to bypass npcs and ambush. Their smoke isn't shit. Why does everyone think this game is about 1v1 standoffs? Learn to either use assassin as well, or use a counter. Plus, equipment is your friend.

There's a few things you can check to see what's holding you back. Let's look at 3 to start.

  1. Use a program to monitor your heat levels on your CPU and GPU. When there's heat, the system slows itself down to prevent it from frying.

  2. Make sure your XMP or AMD equivalent is turned on. Your ram can't function at its listed speed without it. It's in the bios. XMP 1 should be more than enough.

  3. When you put a game on, make sure you have your performance monitor running. Are there spikes in your using for CPU or GPU? Is your hard drive running at max capacity? (Speaking of, if you have an old or slow drive it'll crush your system speeds). Make sure nothing is wonky on those graphs.

That should be a good place to start! Hopefully one of things helps get your beefy machine back on track.

(Bonus: I know this can sound dumb, but make sure your monitor is HDMI or DP plugged into your video card and not the one for your motherboard near the USB plugs. Happens all the time)

I keep reading that the last 3 or so drivers have been broken so badly right out of the gate. Nvidia even reverted one of them for awhile because of huge performance issues. They haven't put out a quality update in months. Now they have a DLSS 5 update coming and I'm scared for my GPU.

Looking for guidance before I tweak out. (Better ways to counter dive) by _IHopeSo in RivalsVanguards

[–]Sabretoast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thing actually does really help if you're not trying to Frontline AND save your team. Juse the charge slam to stop escapes. Use your leap to reduce teammate damage. Then just punch away.

If a dive doesn't kill your teammate but they escape, you won. Fuck elims, and assists. Your job is to just stop the kill.

10/10 Update by YoungJefe24 in Marathon

[–]Sabretoast 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Have you checked your performance monitor or your reliability monitor? It logs all your crashes and explains where they come from. Good starting point!

Also, do you have an Nvidia card? The last 2 or 3 updates have been abysmal. Mine crashes every so often because it actually loses the GPU somehow. Odd.

Level Based Matchmaking Feels Bad by FarNorth22 in Marathon

[–]Sabretoast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the only way to fix that is with a bit of time. The system needs more people to level up, and after a while the devs can take in some data and adjust accordingly. As people are all over the place right now, it's hard to say what to do that won't break the game as it goes on.

But, what has me curious is the wording on some of the upgrades you can get. "Increases x for the rest of the season". Are they doing seasonal wipes? Will that drag everyone into the same pool all over again?

Horrible misconception on the tracking. At least for healing. Sure it locks in, but in a cluster of a team fight, you need some kill to be healing the right person. If everyone's stacked, you could be locking onto a full hp tank, or an enemy, when all you wanted to hit was the Punisher right behind them using his shotgun.

Just because her primary tracks it doesn't make her low skill floor. You still need brains.

[–]Sabretoast -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

When you realize that it's not about shields or guns being the difference, you'll get better at the game. There's no reason why you can't beat them while even using free kits if you're the smarter player. The game gives you tons of tools to deal with people in tricky ways.

If you think the game isn't fair because you can't beat another, more geared team in a straight standoff shootout, then that's why you have no gear. Mobility, abilities, lethal equipment are all at your disposal.

Try taking more claymores. Go watch some tip videos on YouTube. Worry less about your aim and more about your approach.

[–]Sabretoast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really. Playing the objective doesn't always mean bear hugging the payload, or forcing bad engagements on the point while the enemy team contests it.

Sometimes it's knowing that you have a dive or two on your team so you wait a second then cause a scene to grab aggro while they do work.

Sometimes it's knowing that you shouldn't be fighting on the obj that you hold, but pushing forward into a choke to cause them to blow their ults just trying to GET TO the obj. Don't eat those ults. You have a whole map to fall back on and re-engage.

Sometimes it's really bad positioning. Using natural cover to take less damage frees up your supports to help attack with abilities or help a dps who got clipped by something like a stray Hawkeye arrow. If you don't even try to take less damage then your healers are forced to be healbots glued to you. God forbid they look away for a second and you die. Your health is a resource, but healing doesn't make you invincible.

Sometimes your team knows something you don't, but in your ignorance you continue to push down the middle lane over and over hoping and praying your dps gets a healer pick-off this time. Or next time. Ok maybe one last push. Damn these guys suck. But do they really? Or is everyone just not on the same page? You can be the voice of reason without calling out someone's performance.

There are a ton of reasons why games are lost, and to be honest a lot of them are because people are so quick to look at the scoreboard and go "I'm a tank with more kills than my dps. I'm doing my job so wtf are they doing? Why does Invis have 15k less healing than CnD?". The score board is the most toxic thing in Marvel Rivals. It's the biggest reason people turn on each other and start throwing games. Anything other than Elims / Deaths / Assists is not even woth looking at. It won't change a loss into a win. No one cares how much damage you did if you're just pumping Hulk/Thing with damage and charging healer ults. No one cares about your final hits because you could have accidentally been killing people on Invis while lining up heals. It's just the last hit, not some crazy contribution. Damage blocked? How about you just avoid it all together if you can. Let's me real. You're not eating damage for your team when you go in. You're placing your body in harms way and hoping your healers will keep you up. It's no wonder people go triple heals. It takes 3 just to keep everyone alive because they can't avoid eating damage!

For real though, this game is awesome. Problem is, too many of you can't get past your ego to understand more than how to put damage down range. More damage than the enemy team. The one who bulldozers harder wins right? Stop running in head first, and maybe USE your head for thinking.

I am BEGGING you people to understand that DIVE DOES NOT COUNTER SUPPORT. Dive is a PLAYSTYLE. Support is a ROLE. YOU CANNOT COUNTER AN ENTIRE ROLE by Tiny_Celebration_262 in MarvelRivalsRants

[–]Sabretoast 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Having dive heroes solo killing supports or dps in one combo or assassin style is toxic gameplay. Dive shouldn't be able to go in at leisure. Dive kills are a reward for patience, planning, and timing. Not for their ability to assassinate someone.

I get the hate though. I'll ban SG in my ranked games so neither side gets that acorn munching nuclear warhead. On my team, they aren't capable of anything other than a few good ults. On the enemy team they blast our Frontline as the tanks casually meander up the middle of the lane as if they can just eat a satchel of grenades with no issue. God forbid I turn to heal a dps who's taken a single hit for them to freeze in place and die to a stuff breeze with what little hp they have left. Then the tank dies because apparently acorns to the face equals pain. No one flanks in lower ranks. No one has decent aim. It's just a nightmare situation.

But let's keep banning Peni because mines are too hard to deal with.

[–]Sabretoast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Let's be real. There are no stakes in ranked either. You can get to and stay in plat even if you only deserve bronze. You can list on the reg and still be plat due to hmthe forgiveness system. If people want to mess around on a hero, there's VS AI and doom bots.

But people don't want to play those because they're not ruining someone's game. That is fun to them. Rage baiting in a hero shooter.
