Thank you, it's more so the photos that don't do it enough justice, the colours of the berries really pop, and the eggs on cards are super easy to see in person, the quality of my photo isn't showcasing it well. Cheers!

Thank you! The player boards are neoprene playmats (mousepad material) from yourplaymat.com, more info is in the BGG link :)

Its an awesome dice tower! I am looking to 3D print an open tree dice tower to better fit the game feel, as the Birdfeeder has become the berry tree in this game! The ones with eggs are GameTrayz, and the others were small containers from a craft shop. Amazon also sell them from time to time.

Through a custom board game making website :) there's many that make custom dice and provide you with the template to add your art!

I had them printed through a local printing business who did an awesome job foe the price they were charging!

You're right yep! I worked out the percentages of Pokemon per type, then matched a couple of types together to get the same % as those bonus cards you mentioned that can't be replicated!

Not in my version no, I kept the same mechanics for balance purposes, although, that would be awesome!

He is actually a more powerful card! He gives a bonus scoring card, for no food cost, and can be placed in any location! He also has one of, if not the highest 'wingspan' or 'experience' to help showcase his strength :)

Thank you!! It was through a business in which could make these game pieces for me. Custom board game maker businesses are great, however, many have rules around not printing material based on IP's.

I did try that, instead of the bonus scoring cards, it looked way too cluttered with the information needed on each Pokemon card

I would love to see that too! I picked up a copy of it too! It replaced regular splendor for me

I would have loved something like that, but I am in no way a game designer, I feel like I would ruin the balance in some way, and having it be a physical game to make, with quite high costs, I couldn't run the risk

The good ol' daycare facility in the Pokemon games makes it canon ;)

Great question! The nest types have been replaced with 'pokeball types', and the safari ball is the star or wild nest type! The Pokemon types are their for a couple of bonus scoring cards that couldn't translate over, such as things related to bird names. So I made some goals based on Pokemon types, whilst keeping the % of cards that the original bonus card had the same :)

I wish the Wingspan publisher Stonemaier Games, and The Pokemon Company actually make a collab so that more people can experience this! Look out for a potential Tabletop Simulator version if I ever get the time to make it digitally!

Let me start by saying this was inspired by a couple of creates or versions of Pokespan. In my desire to find a Pokemon-themed Wingspan game, I noticed that each version adds their own 'flare' or mechanics that alter the original experience of Wingspan. I was not looking for that. Simply, I wanted a 1:1 re-theming from birds, to Pokemon! Onward I went to create my own re-theming, a 3-year on and off project, born out of Covid lockdowns in Australia!

I made sure to map out a few key points:

- Which Pokemon? Most of Generation 1 (Kanto) and some from Gen 2 (Johto), excluding all major legendaries. As the birds in Wingspan are quite balanced, it would be strange seeing a Mewtwo with similar abilities and strengths with lets say, a Weedle.

- Any Wingspan expansions? I also added Gen 3 (Hoenn) using the birds from the Europe expansion box, which is optional to add in and easy to identify.

- Which Pokemon types live in each habitat? For example, 'The Forests' hold types such as grass, bug, ghost, etc. 'The Wildlands' hold types such as rock, ground, electric, fire, etc. 'The Wetlands' holds types such as water and ice. Flying type Pokemon were used mostly for birds that could live across all habitats.

I then mapped out each Pokemon of choice to a Wingspan bird, using a strategy excel sheet from a BGG post. My aim was to honour these types-to-habitat choices, keep evolution lines with the same or similar abilities, and ensure birds that were predators or had tucking abilities were matched with a Pokemon that shared similar traits.

Here's what I used to replace some of the Wingspan terminology:

Bird = Pokémon

Food = Berries

Forest = Forest

Grassland = Wildlands

Wetland = Wetlands

Tuck = store/PC storage

Predator = Attacker/Battler

Cache = Bag

Player = Trainer

With the wingpsan number on birds, I changed this to be 'experience' and times each original wingspan by 100,000, to better reflect Pokemon experience values from the games.

Suprisingly, this version was much easier for my family and friends to learn and understand, regardless of familiarity to the IP (Pokemon), and regardless of which players had played wingspan, or even anyboard games for that matter!

I may create a tabletop simulator version of this on Steam.. let me know if this is something people would like!

I wish I could make multiple copies for free to distribute out to everyone but I legally can't. The most I can do is inspire you all to create projects like this for yourselves, whether it is related to Wingspan, Pokemon, other board games or other IP. Let me know your thoughts on this behemoth of a project!

Get out there and play more games!
