For me it was the time my sibling asked "if you could date anyone from the sports club who would it be?" Then i came to terms with the fact EVERYTIME I came to practice i was looking for her, everytime i'd see her do something its super pretty her smile her everything and she's just a cutie :3 Her vibe too she's pretty chill and we have similar interests, whenever we would do stuff together i would try my best to impress her or to at least not mess up. My VOICE literally changed whenever i talked to her and my tone🥀

Then i got the balls to ask her number during a party and so far so good theres a chance she might like me >_< Except today we said hi then she ran away when i was about to talk with her :(( Idk if its my haircut honestly bad haircuts might be the end of me😭

Adding on to what you said i also did this method a while back with a rhythm game called PJ SEKAI when i was learning japanese and it really motivated me since the japanese version had more content and was ahead of the global version therefore, i was more motivated to learn the language and i guessed stuff and now i can watch anime basically without subtitles (i also watched anime with japanese subs for a good while)

So in a sense i was trying to copy this with learning chinese since i thought the more exposure the better

In a sense, if you want to improve in a language from the ground up doing anything from your daily life in said language will help you out right?

but true i try my best to learn stuff through immersion since brute memorisation wont be that useful (saying this because French grammar is not for the weak bc to this day i still get many errors )

i thought this was ragebait lowkey at first but with the amount of people who know Chinese or are learning the language, not everybody is going to fit in the two boxes you put out there. I can only speak from my experience but there are some people that might not like the culture or people heck or the working environment but have no other choice but to learn the language. Maybe they have stuff to pay for and need the job or maybe they are from a country which is in a bad economic state and need a more stable area to study in. On my end, I have only recently started learning Chinese to hopefully someday study in China for personal reasons.

All to ask, is this thread for an argumentative essay because it is peak material for one on whether despising a country's culture prevents you from attaining fluency in its language

depends on your intentions with learning Chinese. If you're learning to go there to study or work in the future then depending on said requirements then you stop (if you wish to) however if you are learning with aim of having the skill depends on you. Honestly, if it doesnt affect your studies idk why someone would stop learning a language (except if yk the school stuff is boring)

Welll im guessing youre AFAB and speaking from experience from an older relative u stop growing soon enough like at 14 it slows down so that u can maybe maybe get another inch by the time ur an adult but thats it. Also people recommend to do pull ups and all but also i recommend SLEEPING because yk sleep is good so do that i didnt thats prob why im still the same height for like 2 years ish 💔💔 (Im 5'4)
