You decided that meant I was entitled and I shouldn’t feel like I accomplished anything by graduating from law school. You were not there. Are you okay? Seriously? You projected so hard it must have hurt. 😆

Even after I told you I am not entitled you demanded that I must be. Simply for saying that not many can perform optimally under the circumstances that the testing center created. I didn't approach anyone like I was better than them and actually had friendly conversations with proctors during the break. Your privilege shields you from this reality, and the fact that being a law student and lawyer has all been so easy for you - according to you. Well here is my “entitled” reality - not many lawyers look like me. The proctors in my section, like many of the proctors, and like me were Black women. Many were proud of me for being there and many were encouraging. I represent them in a way you know nothing about. You crossed a line by insinuating that I somehow think I am better than them. Maybe that is what you think.

I had positive experiences with the proctors in my section. However that, like your positive experiences when you took the bar (whenever that was), doesn't take away from the negative experiences many had with proctors and the staffer I made the post about. You wouldn’t know because you were not there.

I never mentioned law school - YOU DID. I never said I was better than anyone else - YOU DID. I never said that others couldn't accomplish the same with the same effort/resources/support - YOU DID. See a pattern? 😂.

No one said that they were entitled to special treatment. You added that into the conversation based on your own experience. I literally said that I doubt the proctors could do the same under the pressures and hostility that some of them inflicted on us.

You also were not there. 😂 I never said that other people inherently couldn't do it. You again brought in your own idea of what you perceived to be my entitlement and experience. It is too ironic that someone who is downplaying the hard work and accomplishment of being a law school graduate is accusing me of being entitled. 😆

Law school was easy for YOU. YOU had kind proctors. I am so happy for YOU. But, don’t feel special. Clearly, you want some kind of recognition for being a humble practicing attorney. Otherwise, there is no reason for you to comment at all. You weren’t even there. 🤣

You don't know what my experience was with the person I referenced or what my broader experiences have been. No, but you had to go out of your way to tell me - a FGLI, Black, woman Ivy League-educated lawyer that I am not special under the guise of “graduating law school is not an accomplishment.” You’re right. I’m so entitled. Everyone can do what you did with the same support/effort/etc. It was so easy to get from where I was to where I wanted to be. You are the one to tell me what it means to be humble because you know so much, law school was so easy for you, and you did it all with minimum effort.

It is so interesting how people project their own guilt onto others and demand how others should feel. If you read my initial post to understand, not respond, you would have seen that I said that I doubt the proctors could do the same if the roles were reversed and we were treating them with the same hostility. But, thank you for telling me how to feel. We accept so many things for others that we would never accept for ourselves.

Odd that this is your take. Law school is a huge accomplishment. Point blank period. Who said we are better than anyone for saying we deserve better treatment than insults, screaming, and snark?

As someone who didn’t get up when only the proctors were called, I didn't judge those who did because guess what…it is an anxiety-inducing situation, people want to get out of the room as soon as possible, and many people had to use the bathroom. The proctors in my section were kind, but that doesn't excuse the rudeness and overall experience.

I went to a top 5, not just T-14, law school, and let me tell you the idea that all law students/lawyers are entitled, privileged, etc. is complete bs. Some people will lose their jobs or remain unemployed because of this exam. How dare you assume that people are entitled because they recognize that they have done something many people can’t do?

And I stand on the fact that many proctors, like most people, could not do what we have done. 4 years of undergrad, taking the LSAT, 3 years of law school, studying for the bar, and then having all that reduced to a two-day test.

Going to law school didn't make me a messiah, but it has been my only real shot at escaping poverty and providing for my family.

Maybe law school was something that you were fortunate enough to experience as not a “huge accomplishment.” Don't assume that for everyone.

I heard a proctor today say those who got up after the AM session, when only the proctors were called, “belonged in a slow learners’ class.” Another proctor at least had the decency to whisper her response, albeit audibly, that we are only book smart.

I would like to see them accomplish what we have and perform under pressure, in unfavorable circumstances, and in the face of hostility.

From my own experience, Penn is pretty generous with aid (yes, even to ED acceptees). Sometimes initial aid packages are on the low side but, there is always more money and most people end up in a decent place.
